Incredibly pumped about the game, but I have to be a party pooper regarding one popular talking point:

Geelong/Sydney recent historical record has absolutely zero bearing on what to expect. Totally different sides. At a great stretch you could use the match at the start of the season but even that would be foolish. It's one data point, Geelong played terribly in the Buddy show, it was at the SCG and both teams will have 4-6 different players. Geelong in round 2 were not the Geelong of now.

Trying to claim that games like the 2016 PF or the Swans wins at KP over the years are any sort of guide is ludicrous. Brisbane showed everybody how irrelevant so called hoodoos actually are. The better team wins on the day.

One thing that 💩 me is hearing that Sydney will be tired and sore after tonight's game as it was a hard game...
We're talking about a professional athletes here, who has the best doctors, medicos, dietitians that is there job to get them to peak performance.... they will be fuel up and ready to go for the Grand Final

Are we playing for the Gary Rohan Cup ? (you’d ban me if I called it the Nick Davis cup).

The Lions have played against every Grand Final winner in the finals since 2019.

The Lions did not play the Swans in the 2022 finals series.

Lock it in boys.

Much better side bar maybe O'Connor for parfitt. At least we won't have the afl gifting buddy his goals to get his 1000 this week. That was seriously embarrassing how obvious they made that

If I recall correctly, there were 3 or 4 incorrect umpire decisions in the space of 20 seconds to ensure the ball got to Franklin. It was laughable

Will be a pleasure to come up against your lot in the big dance. Nothing but absolute respect for your club and the way you go about it. Will also always be eternally grateful that your club was basically the only one to take a stand against the treatment of Adam Goodes.

Knowing how both teams play I'm sure it will go down to the wire and should we fail to come out on top I'll at least be glad we went down to a team I respect.

How good is being in the granny?!?

Hope you all enjoy the lead up to it!

Goodesy was my favourite non-cats player of all time. What a champion.

This is one of the big reasons I am so glad we are playing the swans and not the pies. No chance we get a lovely message like this from pies fans.
The respect runs both ways, obviously I am desperate for us to win but Sydney is a great club and if you win no doubt you and other fans will handle it with humility and respect.

After last seasons heartbreak I cannot for one believe how the squad has rebounded this season. We were broken after the dees game but to witness this has been some thing else.Especially during a time where the last two years have been pure shit and terrible for all of us.

The last two years shattered my heart. It ****ed my health physically and emotionally. Geelong are bringing the life back in me and smile to my face. Win or lose, I’m so proud of this club. I smiled so bright. Bring it home boys, I love this club so much

Reasonably confident we can overrun them if it’s close at HT. They looked out on their feet in the final 15-20 minutes and we’ve been a tremendous second half team all year. Their spread ahead of the ball is a big asset though and will be tricky to nullify, much like Collingwood. Think we have the tools in our arsenal to do so though, our second-tier mids have all stepped up enormously this season.

Will be cheering on from Buenos Aires. Go Cats!

The best, two most consistent clubs of the past 20 years finally meeting in a GF. Seems fitting really.
