The equivalent of what we may have just given up for a guy who is 25 and needed to be offloaded due to salary cap restrictions.

Pick 12s-
Isaiah Pickett
Zack Butters
Charlie Curnow
Sam Docherty
Cyril Rioli
James Frawley

Pick 19s-
Sam De Koning
Tim English
Isaac Smith
Callan Ward
Shaun Grigg

And over just 5 x drafts from 2015-2019, here are some players taken in the top-20:

Schache
Francis
AhCee
Weideman
Wayne Milera
Kennedy
Fiorini
Setterfield
Petreski Seton
Logue
Bowes
V enables
Galluci
P Dow
Stephenson
Coffield
O’Brien
Bonar
Brander
Ling
Higgins
CCJ
Chayce Jones
Hately
McHenry
Sturt
Stocker
RCD
McAsey
Flanders
Bergman
Stephens
Kemp
Philp

Then there’s a heap more crud at 21-22 where our pick will slide to.

So take a guaranteed gun, or roll the dice? You’ve got to play the odds, and the odds of getting a single player better than TT from either pick is very small …. and even if you did fluke it, TT can help us win flags immediately, a new draftee would take a few years to reach their peak.

There's a lot of people being unrealistic thinking we're going to give GWS a pair of dirty socks for 2 gun mids. End of the day they'll be well compensated by us with trade slightly favouring us. On the plus side I managed to catch up with a bloke who's mates with a Carlton talent scout and he said they're already tipping 2002 Draft shiteness about this Draft. This talent scouts daughter was in my daughter's primary school class but since high school lost touch. He told me not long after the Shai Bolton Draft that we just got a Brownlow medallist dirt cheap and was filthy he was ignored and they took Fisher instead. Every time I saw him he'd talk about Shai so he certainly knew. So I rate his opinion. Who cares if we end up with Taranto, Hopper and late token picks in their 50's, 60's odds are gonna get s**t players anyway. Keep powder dry for next year.

Agree with this question over 2022 draft - I'm surprised by some names getting invited to the Combine - if so it is seriously less than other years. Still be some great players, but really some will be hopeful that Clubs can pour in the development to get enough of them up there to play. Time will tell.

this hopper trade is getting interesting. Not sure how it gets done if they value him more than TT.

How easy we are to deal with, and that perhaps 'overs' for TT is considered in the Hopper trade.

I feel like we might try to get another trade done before we do the Hopper deal. I get the feeling that GWS would've given a future 3rd as well with the Taranto trade.

If we don't have a future 3rd YET, other clubs can't ask for it when we try to trade.

Might get tacked onto the Hopper trade later on, in addition to his actual value.

Whether that happens or not, that is why we have to look at the trade period in fullness, not one trade at a time.

We’re rolling the dice with Taranto and Hopper to be the missing pieces that will get us into the top 4 next season. This is why Cotchin and JR8 didn’t retire.
the missing piece to the top 4 is the afl and umpires

they'll decide our fate

I would only want 12

I have a feeling hopper will end up staying at gws
May well be, but he has nominated and like us they usually get the players were they want to go.

Stop whining that we overpaid.. it’s more than fair

This Mafia bloke got potential to be top 10 player in league
In the window to win another flag, he is only going to increase our chances. If the difference between winning or not I’d potentially missing out on somebody who might be a gun in 5 years but probably won’t be I’ll take that chance.

Let’s reverse the situation … let’s say end of 2018 after a flag and showing he was a quality player, Prestia decided he wanted to head back to QLD? A 25yo quality midfielder ….what would Tiger supporters have wanted for Prestia?

Would you have been doing cartwheels with 12 and 19?

I think it’s a win/win. Tigers get a desperately needed quality inside-mid at perfect age profile for contending, GWS get good draft capital.

People have to realise that whilst we may not win a flag with TT and Hopper, we were zero chance of a flag without them in the next few years.
