Because we will likely take Wardlaw or Sheezel with pick 1 and Cadman will be gone by our second pick unless we get a pick better than Ports pick 8 which at this stage is unlikely.

I'm glad Sheezel is in the frame - he gives off massive Sidebottom vibes. You would take that every day.

Equally happy to go for Wardlaw now though with Judas gone.

I'm not so sure about that. Everything we saw of him was while he was in his comfort zone and in a good team. If we can't see how he is with neither of those two things I'm not sure how we can make accurate judgements.

For example he reportedly showed great competitiveness with a drive to win. Sounds great. Until he's in a s**t team and that unfulfilled desire to win makes him throw tantrum after tantrum.

We got offers from other non-SA clubs too. Their recruiters obviously didn't spot issues either.
The competitiveness for mine is the same as it was when we watched him playing in the SANFL finals last year. I'm thinking more in terms of temperament in adversity (outside of footy) and go home factor, a really good recruitment team would look at likelihoods for this and balance their estimate against the offers being made.

As for other teams, maybe they aren't very good either.

Not saying I would have recommended taking Adelaide's offer but it's not my job to work out what's best either. I do wonder if it was discussed prior to drafting him internally.

I don’t watch much of PA.. how good is Butters? Where does he rate on PA list? Top 5?
Something like that.
By ranking points he would be similar to simpkins output. A level down from LDU.
He is crazy hard at it. Very contested. Also he is decent when resting forward.
He would walk in to our best 5 players next year imo.

Way overs. Butters is a really, really good player. The only knock I have on him is that he’s very injury prone, puts his head over the pill when he shouldn’t and barrels into contests always at 110%. A great trait but a potentially costly one on the body.
He a piece of trailer trash shit, but can football.

I guess I could learn to love the flog if he came LOL
