Great point. Just my personal take, Tiges have come out very well giving up 12 and 19 for Taranto. Hartley is a gun.
When our supporters think we over paid, but GWS think we underpaid it tends to make me think it was a fair deal

Absolutely nothing wrong with that and how it should be

Something smells here, cameras and media out when Graham arrived. Were port forcing a JHF decision by showing Graham around their headquarters

Clever.

Maybe Port offered JGTI a motza so he'd come and have a look. Message to JHF there are others in the game. JHF says i want to come, and Port say to jack 'we were joking, see ya later'.

Nice and Machiavellian.

This Dodoro logic of trying to screw everyone and making it about "winning" at all costs in a deal gets you nowhere in the long run. Richmond know this. How's Essendon looking? There's your answer.

It is in effect the same thing when they can't afford to pay him what we offered or what he and his management wants.

They were stuck in between a rock and a hard place. They had to dump him in a trade over paying him due to other contracts on their books.
Not really. When you have the flexibility to negotiate a salary from scratch you can do heaps of things to get it over the line. I'm sure they probably wanted to retain him. When you're locked in to contract, you're locked in and you really have no other option but to pay it or dump it.

If we win one flag it’s a win.

People forget winning flags are bloody hard. Winning 3 in 4 sets the expectation that we’re expected to win more but if we signed both and won 1 flag in the 7 years than it’s a win.

Look at the superstars of the past that never won flags, Buddy, Lockett, Judd to name a few.. it’s bloody hard so gives us one and we win the trades

Not sure that is correct... ;)

Hopper deal seems pretty set by the rumours. So why the delay? I guess because GWS have too many irons in the fire and would like to see what else they can do. And maybe we have to persuade a player to move (Soldo only one that makes any sense to me :()

Taranto deal was fair. Doesn't mean i'm that happy because I reckon we had some leverage. but by being fair we should get a fair deal back.

And I reckon if we had TT in 2022 we would have been top 4 and likely GF bound. Next year the new game plan will be bedded down and a really top end midfield could be all we need for flag 14. Which is worth a heap of first round picks.

AFL.com.au says McDonald tipingwuti considering coming out of retirement. Hope he considers Richmond rather than going back to the failed club he retired from. Big fan of his forward pressure, would be a great mentor for M.Rioli and great depth to put pressure on small forward slots
No thanks we don’t employ downhill skiers

Yep, where the natural laws of optimism and pessimism collide with realism

I think its different.

Salary dumps for contracted players. This is a situation not too dissimilar to CCJ

Both offered contracts to stay, but offered more to leave which is in no means a salary dump.

Pretty sure Judd won a flag at WCE as well.
Ok so didn’t think it’d be too hard for you mob to read but re reading maybe I’ve got to make it simpler..

Those 3 were traded from their original clubs without winning a flag. My point was that even arguably some of the greatest players don’t win flags when traded and I feel the only way a trade is won is if a flag is won once a player arrives. That’s the whole point of trading in players for a fair bit.

It was mentioned before that 2 or 3 flags would be a pass but I personally think 1. Either way it’s each to their own but i personally can’t wait for another flag, let’s hope these 2 bring us a flag in the next 7 years

Sydney offered us 6 & 14 for pick 3 when Dusty was drafted.

North were offered 2021 pick 5 (Rachele), 2021 pick 14(Chesser) & 2022 pick 5 for pick 1 last year and still knocked it back.

Clubs just won't trade out of the top 5 for lower first round picks unless the deal is way too good to knock back.
Collingwood traded a future pick 2 for an unwrapped mintie and some chewed bubble gum

Does Cooney realise Ross just signed a new contract not long ago and can’t be traded within 12 months

Cooney vs realisation = not a good fit!
