People forget winning flags are bloody hard. Winning 3 in 4 sets the expectation that we’re expected to win more but if we signed both and won 1 flag in the 7 years than it’s a win.

Look at the superstars of the past that never won flags, Buddy, Lockett, Judd to name a few.. it’s bloody hard so gives us one and we win the trades

Damien Barrett on the AFL Daily podcast surprisingly very positive about our recruiting strategy in our acquisition of Taranto and our pursuit of Hopper.
Would be worth a listen if you have time.
Key points raised:

1. Taranto took less to come to Richmond against what he could have got at other clubs.
2. Barrett drew parallels to our 2016 trade period which propelled us to a flag.
3. Acknowledged that in isolation pick 12 and 19 may be overs, but when you consider 19 was essentially CCJ its not too bad.
4. Both Barrett and Gablich agreed that the weight of the Taranto deal may also help get the Hopper deal over the line by the end of the week.

It was weird to hear Barrett speak positively about Richmond. Felt like I was in a parallel universe.
