The ceiling must have been <40m if Legs managed to hit it.

Was it you alluding to Lemmey’s issues pre-draft and the need to stay in Adelaide? If so were you feeding the noise to further his slide or did the talent just outweigh the risk too much at that pick?

Also do BF members get to drink free at your Filipino establishment?

I thought it could go both ways for Lemmey. Sometimes people need a rude shock to really push themselves to get to their best.

Much more focus and intent shown in final interview. I think the penny had dropped that he may not even get drafted. Really happy with the pick. Will be interesting to see if he can go back to being a dominant lead up player running all the way up to the wing and back or if he starts and potentially even stays down back. The hunger that looked back needs to transition on field and more body on body.

There were multiple issues (none of them inappropriate) and his performances weren't indicative of his junior year or his talent level. But if he develops into even half the player his talent level shows he will be an absolute draft steal.

Just so you know in a few months i'll be having a 6 week course of stem cell treatments in my back and neck and after that i'll be living right by a nice little beach in SE asia managing my investments there. I don't care anymore. If I had of wanted it I had a full time offer on the table to live in Melbourne and work for Carlton next year.

I can go back to just being a supporter after 2 years being involved with clubs and yes im sure my name will likely be a dirty word. It certainly already is at West Coast..
Yes you could have all that but instead you opt to be a full time poster. Someone who is a professional recruiter or works in a professional role acts professionally. They don't air their dirty laundry online. I'm sure Carlton are very happy that someone who works for them is constantly posting their inner draft strategies ?

You know the strategy changes year to year, right?

Or do you actually believe they have the same strategy every season?

Scary dominant forward line Carlton have put together if he does.

The Pieman has gone the private school route again.

Ginbey - Wesley Perth
Hewett - Guildford Grammar/Scotch
Barnett - Mercedes Adelaide
Burgiel - Wesley Melbourne
Long - Geelong Grammar

Assuming no scholarship, apart from Mercedes which is about $10k pa, the rest are around $30k pa with boarding being about double that.

The 2 Victorian boys are used to being away from home as boarders, so relocation should be relatively easy. The look on Barnett's face makes me think he will be keen to
Yeah, both Burgiel and Long are over 3 hours away from Melbourne, but still part of elite private schools and boarders. Same as Chesser last year!

Carlton do seem to have the strategy of trading decent future picks for a late 1st or early 2nd to pick up a guy considered a reach - who then doesn't turn in to an AFL quality player....

But yeah, most teams seem to like to change their strategy year-to-year strangely enough ;)

What brutish meatballs have we drafted in the past 5 years?

What players would you consider hard enforcers on our list before this draft?

I cant think of a single one. We lacked size and a hard edge. We need more of them as well.
None at all, was just preempting the next trend of list build whinging.

Why are we all in on patience and skill when it’s physicality that wins games.

All this physicality is fine but you look around the league and it’s speed and foot skills that win games.

Rinse and repeat, forever.

What if Hewett took the call and then returned to the lounge and said nothing?

It was the family jumping on him that showed the jubilation.
I'm not sure anyone was suggesting the family video reaction wasn't real. I think it was that he was so super calm and collected during the call from Simmo. If it was me and Simmo called to say all my childhood dreams were about to be fulfilled, I'd probably be a bubbling mess.

There was also a cut of the home video somewhere that showed Elijah still holding the phone to his ear a split second before it was announced and he just looked incredibly excited.

On another point, how cool was Simmo. It was almost like he was about to cry himself!
