This sounds a bit oxymoronic...

GWS player Xavier O'Halloran was the only other player to receive a charge from the MRO for Saturday's action, with a $1000 fine able to be accepted with an early plea for engaging in a melee during the second quarter of Saturday's win over Sydney.

A melee with himself? Or were the other players not quite as engaged as O'Halloran??
The relatives on the green side of my family would have suggested that because of his name he was more harshly treated.

The orange men on the other side would have said that for someone who must obviously be a thug the penalty was way too light.

This is right up there with 'Adelaide Metro apologises for the inconvenience' for infuriatingly useless announcements.

Port’s Nick Moore has been offered a $125 fine and reprimand with an early guilty plea for engaging in rough conduct with Norwood’s Jacob Kennerley at Alberton Oval on Saturday.

Nick Moore (Port) – Rough Conduct (Dangerous Tackle)
Conduct:
Careless
Contact: High
Impact: Low
Base Sanction: 1 match
Early Guilty Plea: $125 fine and reprimand

They only announced the charges from Saturdays games a few hours ago, I assume all the Sunday ones will be tomorrow

Unlikely - They'd need to allow enough time for a tribunal hearing and appeal. Can't be doing them Wednesday and Thursday on a day's notice.

Another classic example of umpire not blowing the whistle fast enough?

Conrad with his 3rd umpire contact for the season.. 7 rounds in...
Port gun Connor Rozee can accept a $2,500 fine with an early plea for making careless contact with an umpire.

Meanwhile, at Geelong...no fine for Jeremy Cameron steamrollering an umpire.

  • Rioli attempts a block
  • Rioli misses but his trailing hand possibly makes contact with Ridley's head, difficult to tell as Ridley doesn't initially react
  • Ridley then throws his hands up in the air, perhaps attempting to draw the attention of an umpire to pay a free kick
  • Ridley falls and, for some reason, fails to put his hands out to protect himself enough to prevent his head from hitting the turf

The insane thing is, if Rioli's arm had contacted him in the neck or something, I can't see him even recieving a fine. I guess it's port though, so probably.

The AFL's won't stamp out actions over outcomes until their policies are used as evidence in CTE litigation

Except for tackles where on occasion it is action not outcome based. Chooklotto.
