It just infuriates me that Collingwood can pickup guys like Mcreery, Murphy, Frampton, Johnson with junk picks and turn them into very serviceable role players straight away that fit their team needs.

All our lower picks are pure speculation - Spicer, Goater and Curtis etc. Yeah they may have talent but it's going to take a hell of a lot of time and investment to see it bear fruit if at all.

The role players we bring in like Greenwood, Shiels, or Howe are just mates of the coaches, they hardly fit an overarching strategy to list or team balance like the way Collingwood and other teams go about it.

Even Tucker is just weird. So many additional random midfielders who don't offer anything to the needs of the team except experience. And don't get me started on the plethora of half backs clogging the list. Bonar just a spec trade turned into another half back f***ing lol.

No sense of recruiting to benefit the team
No understanding of future trends in the game
No sense of list balance whatsoever

So so so far behind

Not saying I want to sack more people as I think Luff was an idiot but they need a performance review and then some

this is an impossible scenario because GWS only have 2 top 10 picks so either one of us or West Coast would receive the other?
We have 2 & 17, West Coast have 1, GWS has 5 & 7. Unless we trade 2 & 17 for 5 & 7 and then GWS send 2,17 & future 1st for 1, I’d take it if I were West Coast and Reid says he wouldn’t stay, otherwise not sure they take that.
If Himmelberg leaves they could have 5, 6 & 8 based on the current ladder.

If McKay leaves then we could have 2 & 3, while GWS have 6, 7 & 9.

WC get 2, 9
GWS get 1
NM get 6, 7 & take Whitfield salary dump (3, 6, 7, 17 & Whitfield, overall)

NM and WC probably argue about who gets 7 and who gets 9.

My personal favourite is 2020 when a grand finalist adds another club's recent 2x B&F, another club's leading goalkicker and beats out a rival (Melbourne) for a 3x premiership FA while losing some older guys to retirement plus a bunch of shitmen.
Didn’t they give up 4 first rounders for Cameron though? It’s not like he was free.
Assuming the got a couple of those first rounders when Kelly went home to WA. They drafted him themselves. Great recruitment & trading really.
I ****en hate Geelong, but they effectively turned the recruitment of Kelly into a flag in a matter of seasons.

I didn't say it would be easy and that is why multiple clubs would need to be involved.

Eagles aren't trading out pick 1 for picks in the 5-10 range.

North is in the box seat holding pick two and will get the best out of any mega deal that might go down.

Otherwise, we simply take the 2nd best player in the draft.

We'll have to get a PP if we win 4 or less games this year. Whether it's a pick after our first, an end of first Rd or pre listing 1 or 2 NGA players

Even if they give us just the right to match any academy bids in the top 40 with the discount?
If we are at pick 2 that would be okay, because if WC bid on McKercher we would just say "cool, thanks for Harley Reid". But if we are at pick 3 then we are probably going to get screwed by a bid.

At pick 2 we trade away the Port pick for a player or future pick and draft Watson, McKercher, Sanders, Callinan (assuming the Tas guys are all NGA). If McKay leaves and we get pick 3 compo then we probably have to take a tall player there.

The weagles can have pick 7 if they throw in their second rounder to us

Going off the discussion in the Hall thread where K. Coleman and Rich were brought up, there are actually a few free agents that could fill that half-back distributor role we need. This depends on McKay not leaving as a FA obviously but just to fill the role for a couple of years while Bergman develops or we find some young tyro to slot in. So there's Rich, Isaac Smith, Charlie Constable (got a ton for it with GC before getting dropped in rd 2, probably has to do with his leg speed), Riley Bonner, Dylan Williams (former forward providing a ton of rebound for Port at the moment), Trent McKenzie, Nathan Broad, Jimmy Webster and Bailey Williams from the Bulldogs.

There are also a fair few UFAs that have been previously delisted that could be decent role players for us for a year or two: Oleg Markov, Will Snelling, Lachie Schulz, Levi Casboult, Jack Stein, Jacob Wehr, James Jordon, Ben Miller, Mason Wood (lol) and Oskar Baker.

I think it has become pretty clear this year that we've got a ton of young talent in the midfield and there's a line for the medium forward position but those specialist positions like wing, small forward, KPP and half back are all being filled by underdeveloped kids or blokes being played out of position (some of which aren't really good in any position). Target these deficiencies with some established AFL players that can slot in to Clarko's gameplan in 2023 and I think we'd be much better off compared to playing mids like Howe, Tucker and Powell there.

If we could somehow get Mason wood back I would laugh but also feel somewhat sentimental about it. Can he finally deliver on the promise?

I'm generally of the opinion that social media likes mean **** all, but Miles Bergman liked this one talking up our young blokes and future. And didn't bother to like the post just before this one, by the same account, that harped on about Poort's winning streak. Ofc he could just be happy for his cousin. At the very least, I'd be surprised if he isn't weighing up a return to Vic

Strange to include a "Try out your bus stop pickup lines" at training. But I guess that's part of the modern holistic approach.

Could turn out to be a canny matchday ploy. The last thing Libba will be expecting this week is Tom Powell complimenting his moustache and requesting some quarter time hanky panky

Bus stop, wet day, she's there, I say
"Please, share my umbrella"

Phillips "Umbrella? what?"
Sheezel "It's a song"
Phillips "Never heard it"
Sheezel "My parents play it sometimes, it's old"
<Silence>
Facilitator steps in "Ok stop, stop! We'll start over again"

not sure if you're just trying to keep the myth going, but miles and miller are not actually related

Larkey, Zurhaar, Ford, Scott all decent latish picks.
