You can be guaranteed that any deal between GWS and Eagles for number 1 pick will involve North's pick 2.

Eagles will not want to give up pick one for then getting the 5th or 6th best players in the draft.

I can see us giving up pick 2 and in return a mega deal between several clubs will see us getting two picks in the 5-10 range, while eagles will get pick 2 another top 10 pick and GWS next year's first.

this is an impossible scenario because GWS only have 2 top 10 picks so either one of us or West Coast would receive the other?
We have 2 & 17, West Coast have 1, GWS has 5 & 7. Unless we trade 2 & 17 for 5 & 7 and then GWS send 2,17 & future 1st for 1, I’d take it if I were West Coast and Reid says he wouldn’t stay, otherwise not sure they take that.

Because they weren’t getting games in the position they wanted.

In the leadership group at Essendon, playing week in week out in a favourable role. Happy to be wrong but there’s no money we would offer him that Essendon wouldn’t match. They’re in the top 8, we’re 2nd last. Redman is a 0% chance.

As for a Bergman, we would only be a chance due to the money we can give him and the go-home factor, but why choose us over better performing vic clubs that can offer the same money? I’d give that a generous 25% chance.

if this trade were to happen id be all for it. with all of gold coasts academy players our 17 would go out past 20 anyways. having 5 and 7 could also give us the opportunity to bid on gold coasts players aswell.

I really think we need Watson more than anything so I’m in the camp of keeping pick 2. But if we were to say get pick 3 for McKay I’d do 3 & 17 for 5 & 7 in a heartbeat.

I honestly don't think we'll take a 5 5' midget with pick 2. But a long way to go until we need to make a decision.
He's an inch taller than Dusty Hoffman, who for obvious reasons never followed the other Dusty to the Tigers. And I's suggest height was the issue.
Could be wrong though.

I take your point mate, and I mostly agree, I'm just suggesting there can be other contributing factors too.

Lobb and Dunkley are two examples of trades that didn't happen for the reasons of hometown returns or best 22 standing. There could've been a financial component, but I haven't read anything that suggests their new teams offered lots more than they were already getting. Sometimes there just seems to be other dimensions at play.

There could've been a financial component, but I haven't read anything that suggests their new teams offered lots more than they were already getting. Sometimes there just seems to be other dimensions at play.

Dunkley has a Qld girlfriend/fiancée and want's to settle there.
