That doesnt really tell the full story though9th after the bye on 28 points (7-6). This year we’re 9th going into the bye with 26 points (6-1-7), so a little bit behind 2019. Still feels kinda similar.
For what it’s worth, if Brisbane lose all their away games (Saints, Dees, GC, Freo, Pies) and we beat them at the Gabba, then we can drop a game and still make Top 4 lol
taranto probably one of the better fwds out of our mids.....but the dudes in brownlow form and i don't wanna **** that upWill be interesting to see how Mini structures up with Hopper coming back into the side. Cotch is playing his best footy in years in the guts again, so I'm not sure where Hopper fits? I think the Cotchin forward experiment has to be over so Hopper and Taranto will probably have to spend more time forward.
He seems to start games slow but he had a cracker of a game Saturday night
I might be being a bit harsh, stats certainly say im wrong. My concern is the one or two crucial decisions he makes. One led to a goal on the weekend the other he had no peripheral vision which lead to an opposition player intercept marking. He does that sort of thing at least once or twice a game it feels like and it frustrates the **** outa me. Certainly wouldn’t want to see him dropped.I actually thought he played well, beat King and set up drives out of defense with long kicks which is what you want in the wet. Couldn't fault him really and add in the intercept marks he did his job.
Just rotate him off the bench when one of the onballers needs a rest. Will be interesting to see how Mini structures up with Hopper coming back into the side. Yep a bit harsh, especially that bit about being dropped ..,I might be being a bit harsh, stats certainly say im wrong. My concern is the one or two crucial decisions he makes. He's still only relatively young at 23. His howlers seem to happen early in games, he's still got heaps more upside than his couple of mistakes per game and if he can iron out the brain fades he will be one of the best defenders in the comp.I might be being a bit harsh, stats certainly say im wrong. My sentiments exactly Tigerdan, and here`s a further thought, why not use a scored goal as the signal to enact the move, rather than the mind numbing ego stripping policy, which runs through all teams, of score a goal and your off.Just rotate him off the bench when one of the onballers needs a rest.
That way you always have fresh onballers going into final q when the oppos are gassed.
FFS he needs to STOP fly kicking big sexy
By no means am I saying it’s gonna happen again; you’re right, this year is looking much more difficult. 2019 was no big injuries after the bye, and in that run of 9 we played Pies (finished 4th), Brisbane (2nd) and Eagles (5th).That doesnt really tell the full story though
e.g how many games did we have left playing the top 8 teams compared to this year as well as Tom Lynch not available for another 6-8 games
I think its difficult to compare just on wins and losses
Still get the feeling we will fall short by 1-2 wins
So it’s meehans fault? Seriously, he broke his foot, has been guided by a medical specialist and somehow it’s Meehans fault? Get a gripLynch still 7-12 weeks for the 8th week in a row
Thanks Machete Meehan you cluster *
Lol, think this has gone over your head just a littleSo it’s meehans fault? Seriously, he broke his foot, has been guided by a medical specialist and somehow it’s Meehans fault? Get a grip
hopefully not as long as Gibcus' Hammy.Any word on Samson's ankle?
Lol, no haven’t read the other thread. Apologies MateLol, think this has gone over your head just a little
Have you read the Meehan thread?
It's when he decides too short pass that it all comes unstuck for Balta, he either under kicks it or over shoots the runway. Unless our player is in a paddock all on his own Balta should never be allowed to short pass, he gets better results if just handpasses to that player anyhow.I might be being a bit harsh, stats certainly say im wrong. Saints and dogs won't be in those positions so it's pointless. don't over think it. Before we played GWS did you think we would win the next 3 games, bet u didn't.By no means am I saying it’s gonna happen again; you’re right, this year is looking much more difficult. 2019 was no big injuries after the bye, and in that run of 9 we played Pies (finished 4th), Brisbane (2nd) and Eagles (5th).
This year Lynch is out for at least half of our last 9, and we still have to play 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th on the current ladder. It’s gonna be tough just to make finals with that draw.
Tell you what, though… if we knock a few of those teams off and make it, we’ll be in terrific form.
jack might have to, possible on field coaching / mentor role split between AFL and VFL as required.chimp and jack play on next year 100%
I'd like to see Hopper play Half Forward to see if he can use his endurance and size to set up our forwards. This also allows us to retain our current midfield rotations. Maybe Hopper and Prestia can split time through the middle and half forward but then we start to throw out the balance of our forwardline.
Hopper's return is my biggest dilemma. I really think we have the might right with our midfield and forwardline in terms of diversity of strengths. The only way I'd play Hopper, personally, is to swap him with Cotchin, Prestia or Dusty but atm, I think all of these players offer more in the middle than he does.
I'm interested to see what the selection committee do next week
