I’m confident of a flag this year, but talk of a dynasty is nonsense. Too many players on the wrong side of 30, or very close. Fearful we will hit a cliff AND we are not Geelong.

So it’s 2023 or bust.

No one purposely plays shite football for extended periods of the game. Their commitment to the gameplan wouldn’t fluctuate wildly.

Where did i mention shite football?

Blind Freddy can see that we have different modes that we operate at during games.

There is commitment to the whichever method Fly wants implemented at any given stage during a game.

In no way confident tonight and let's squish all this trash-talking. There is already many avenues for us to end up with egg on our face re: Carlton player performances. I've seen players from all clubs with so-called injuries rip us apart because they feel invincible and get up for the one game. Little turds like Motlop and Owies getting a bag of 3-4 goals each because we let slip in the midfield. Etc... etc...

It's actually games like these I feel worse about than playing the likes of Brisbane, Port or Melbourne tbh.
Who cares about the trash talking. If we lose, big deal, we're still a game clear on top. It's nothing but upside for us, and let's face it, if we turn up, we roll them easy.

Given we couldn't turn 2010/11 into a dynasty, I'll never talk about dynasties. Let's just win one flag then worry about the rest.

But in saying that, I don't think we're as reliant on Pendlebury, Howe & Sidebottom this year as we were last year, and they can all go around again. The next batch - Elliott, Mihocek, Mitchell & Crisp - all still have a few good years left, I reckon.

Super pumped for tonight

Wade is a gun - so why can’t we be Geel?
Because…because…they have been an exceptionally well run club for a lot longer than us, including management of their older players, and we are only now doing it better. Checkers gets beaten up every week, Jamie throws himself into the contest with no fear for his body - I really can’t see these guys lasting much longer.

Not sure I agree. I thought it was the likes of Pendles and Sidey who kept us in it against Port, with the next gen stepping up in the last quarter. I remember thinking during the game about how much we still rely on our veterans.

We have some brilliant youngsters, but we are still heavily reliant on 6 or so older players. Just not sure how much longer they can keep going - especially in the context of ‘dynasty’ talk.

Reliable mail on the Blues board says he’s out. And they’ve pointed to the odds ballooning out for Carlton as another indicator. We’ll know in a few hours time.
Interesting, as Voss has doubled down on saying Cripps will play. Wait and see.

We shot ourselves in the foot there, we are a professionally run club now.

Yes,it feels very different this year compared to 2011.At the end of 2011 things were starting to go off for us.Players were getting niggling injuries,we had the Heath Shaw betting suspension, there was a lot of tension, mainly coming from Mick Malthouse himself, about Malthouse’s tenure as coach coming to an end, etc.

So as I said,it feels very different this year compared to 2011.But we have to win one premiership first before we can even talk about dynasties.Still a lot of hard work to be done.

I certainly don't disagree about the Port game. The veterans were immense. But in general this year, they've played second fiddle. The below distribution for AFLCA votes this year shows we're in decent shape. I know it's a fairly one-dimensional way to look at 'importance' to the side, but if you remove Mason Cox (who is really a fringe player now), that's only 7.6% of our total votes from Pendlebury, Sidebottom & Howe. The 30-year old bucket is a bit of a concern, but I think that cohort still has good footy left in them.

I agrees….Don’t need a dynasty, although it would be amazing!
I just wish for one flag, and then we look at 2024 in 2024!
Embrace the side this year and ride the wave we have been riding, everything is going to plan but we must bring the heat in September, I’ve seen promise so many times only to end up without the cup.

Just look at Pendles and Sidey - both have thrived under Wade.

Surely Voss wouldn't lie, would he?

PS: Much prefer Fly's approach - yep Jamie won't play this week, got a niggle probably miss the next couple
