Given I was only a very young kid during the peak of Tony’s powers, who’s better - Tony or Tom?

Think Tony was talented as well. Not just the wet weather player Malthouse envisaged.
He was a victim of the Royal, Mcguiness era.2 of the best and skillful rovers the club has ever had.
Then later proved under Wheeler what talent he could bring to the AFL.
Tom is definitely the better kick and centre clearance player.
But they were both their weight in gold.
Tony more tenacious and a better tackler. Tom far more skilled and a better decision maker.

Very different eras.

Tony was tough in a time when you absolutely had to be. Great player, hard as nails. Got a bit cynical with age, and role. Will always be a Brownlow medallist.

Tom is tough too, but in an age where it’s a different kind of toughness. Toughness now is repeat efforts and contests even when you are almost on your knees. He has much more skill and finesse.

Its ****ing embarrassing that this is the level of analysis that the game gets.

Clown to the left. Joker to the right.

What do they mean, ‘Not the prettiest’? He’s got some of the best hands in the game, is a great kick under pressure and tackles all day long.

So he has a quirky gait and doesn’t take hangers. He is elite at many of the most sought after attributes. He’s playing footy isn’t he? Not strutting on a catwalk.

If you don’t think watching Libba play footy is a thing of beauty you are doing it wrong!

Of all the dumb on display between Daisy and Barrett ( I can only imagine the rest of the conversation). Its Barretts statement about libbas kicking not being "aesthetically nice" that is truly at inanimate carbon rod levels of dumb. Watching Libba lean back and pinpoint a pass over 45 metres is one of the games true aesthetic glories.

Libba got an Atar score of 94 and studied literature in his time off . He’s a big fan of Hunter S Thompson .

He volunteers for a charity mentoring young people.

I got this from Wikipedia , but this 5min of research is more than Daisy & Purple did before they offered their opinions on the great man .

The later three quarters of footy Libba played last week were almost perfection. Hope he goes for another few years . He’s the campaigner’s campaigner.

If Barrett really wants to see something that isn't aesthetically nice he only has to look in the mirror.

Love libba as much as I love Joey
Wonder who’s channeling who?

Libba could not have done any more in my opinion. Ranks almost top 10 in most of the more important metrics for a MID, even well ahead in some of those statistics than some who actually made the team. Which shows to me, that he will never ever make it. Wonder if AA selectors genuinely look at advanced stats and impact for team, or just total disposals and AFL fantasy scores?

Libba could finish number one in tackles, clearances, contested ball in the league and still likely won't make it. Just the way it is I guess.
