AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Norf will have 3 of the top 10 picks. Suns will have 3 of the the top 10 picks. I like Darcy Wilson but i don't think he will be available come our pick hence a focus on Windsor but could be wrong Wilson could slide. Mckercher, Wilson and Windsor best 3 outside mids on offer and RTB has stated thats what we are targeting in the draft on top of Henry. It doesn't actually make a difference if a F/S we were never going to get goes in front of us or behind us.
What can make a difference is if they Suns trade pick 4 to another club, which is then used to get another player for another team.
Essentially we can't get Walter, Read, Croft , Rogers, McCabe.
If the first round picks stay in place and it goes like Twomey says there aren't many mids for us, but there aren't even at pick 12.
If Gold coast trade their pick one to another team, their pick 4 goes back in front of us.
1 West Coast - Reid.
2 Gold Coast Matched Bid. -Walter
3 Hawks - Duursma
- Gold Coast pick gone back due to Walter.
4 Melbourne - McKercher ( Melbourne get him... i can taste vomit ).
5 GWS - Watson
6 Geelong - Curtin
7 Essendon - Sanders
8 Crows - Caddy
9 Gold Coast Matched Bid -Read
10 Bulldogs - O'Sullivan
11 Bulldogs - Croft F/S Matched bid
12 Gold Coast matched Bid - Rogers
13 Sydney - Murphy
14 Saints - Wilson.
15 Hawks matched bid - McCabe.
16 Roberts HBF
17 Leake HBF
18 Hardeman HBF
But its possible that both Gold Coast and Bulldogs trade out their picks but if Bulldogs do , its not worse than it is now.
If Bulldogs keep their first rounder and someone bids early on Croft, we go up a place.
I'm not so keen on Wilson, an outside mid/wing, given that we'll be getting Henry.
Maybe we can turn one of those HBF's into a mid.
Really want us to find a way to get that GC pick ( insert into pick 4 ).
They gonna absorb his 600k plus a season deal though? Contracted next 2 years still.. he doesnt fit Hawks young developing profile.Heard Hawks interested in Billings. Anybody else heard this?
He’s not on 600k.They gonna absorb his 600k plus a season deal though? Contracted next 2 years still.. he doesnt fit Hawks young developing profile.
I don't wanna pay part of his wage and have peanuts return for him. I think he stays with Peris gone now also
It's really just the minimum been done.My hunch is they have another player in mind to replace Adams on the list. Possibly a trade.
Surprised they let Peris go. Really surprised. But they are the experts, I’m just a supporter.
Also surprised that Highmore hasn’t been axed. Maybe he will be traded to another club.
Yep, 6 solid mids required year on year vs - what - 4 KPPs who don't have anywhere near the injury issues.Yup, been my theory for years. Just take mids with every pick and you won’t go too far wrong.
They might rate Docking (NGA player) more than Peris this year. He's a chance to slip through the draft and get Cat B signed. It's really just the minimum been done.
3 primary list players and a possibility to list another NGA which could happen.
it's not the AFL's job to create a premiership-winning capable list, The sole purpose it was abolished is exactly the same reason it should be denied, whilst we are there, Academys should be reduced to 1 1st round pick, GC getting what they are this year is absolutely draft breaking stuff.Don't know if it was Morris or Twomeys but one of them was on SEN and said that North's application to prelist Sanders is going to be declined by the AFL.
The league will grant them NGA access but he will need to fall outside the top 20 ala Owens/Windy for North to match any bid.
On the flip side, they are 100% getting pick 3 for McKay.
Remains to be seen if any later priority/assistance picks will be allocated.
F/S is dwarfed by Academies, but I love it A Diacos, Silvagni, a Burke, Harvey or Reiwoldt should be running around at the club their father didThe draft is supposed to give access to the best talent to the teams that need it most - the Father-Son Rule works contrary to that, and as such should be abolished. It's not fair and if we ever benefit from it, it still won't be fair.
then they should fully accept that any help from the AFL will not be forthcoming. Our worst patch was
2013, 5W
2014, 4W
2015, 6W
Then back up to 12W
North current streak:
2020, 3W
2021, 4W
2022, 2W
2023, 3W
They followed Melbourne and said if you’re gonna tank, do it properly.
That's good fellaI think someone else will be moved on for Henry , it must be remembered Henry had more 30+ disposal games than Hill or Steele this year so they will be wanting as they say a draft pick between 15 and 25.
To me Henry is the Hill replacement.
“Promising St Kilda forward, Matthew Allison, is rumoured to be a player of interest for North Melbourne. Family ties plus the possibility of greater opportunities are believed to be the motivation behind the discussions between the club and the player’s manager. It is believed that North’s early third round pick would satisfy the Saints should Allison decide on a move.”
It's not like that at all? It’s like saying that because some people win the lottery we should spend all our money on tickets. A strategy isn’t made up of a few examples.
No, but he has played on quality key forwards all yearCan i remind you that the All Australia side is a figment of our imagination. He doesn't have to play on Tom Hawkins for the AA's.
Yep, was banned on here, absolutely no relevance. You are correct.F
For me just no need to mention him with a picture. Has no relevance at all to this forum.
It's not like that at all?
There is proof that you can draft quality key defenders late in the draft all over the place, I was pointing that out.
What more proof do you need than the AA sides being full of key defenders taken late in the draft over the last 5 years. They are out there, so it makes no sense to ignore them.
I'd rather pay 25% of his wage and get nothing from him than pay 100% of his wage and still get nothingThey gonna absorb his 600k plus a season deal though? Contracted next 2 years still.. he doesnt fit Hawks young developing profile.
I don't wanna pay part of his wage and have peanuts return for him. I think he stays with Peris gone now also
Bytel was a gun junior.
Talked up top three in his year until he rooted his back.
Took a punt. Put a lot into him and he did get a few looks.
Wouldn't be surprised if Bytel and Peris pop up elsewhere.
Bytel easily would've got games for West Coast this year. They have been sub-VFL level, all kinds of sh*thouse.
Wilkie is clearly a key defender, despite his height.
Disagree on the hit rate. I think the percentage of key defenders taken later in the draft would be just as high if not higher than most positions.
You just have to scroll through the last few all australian sides. Wilkie, Andrews, Aliir, McGovern, Grimes, Stewart...
I'd happy happy with any of them.
No luck recently with developing tall defenders. Clavarino now Adams.
I wonder with all this talk about Dougal going to the dogs, wonder if we will player swap plus picks for Charlie Clark.
Small fwd from Sandy Dragons pick up last year by dogs 2nd rnd pick.
Can’t see him getting a game with Dogs, we will be needing a small fwd.
