Sumich in The West today saying WC worried about Ginbey’s groins and potential OP. Hopefully just some of his usual rubbish.

The below is the full extent of what Sumich wrote about Ginbey

Alarm bells are also chiming through West Coast medicos that last year’s top draft pick Reuben Ginbey, 19, is troubled with groin soreness and early signs of the dreaded osteitis pubis.

It’s pretty thin and not at all alarmist

What we do know is that Ginbey was pulled out of training approximately a week before the club broke for Christmas and since returning he’s been restricted to some light level running. He was a bit more involved at the beginning of the last session on Wednesday but sat out the match sim

The only public comment from the club was from Simpson in his return to training press conference where he stated they were concerned about his training loads so pulled him back

What they’ve done is consistent with what you’d expect if Ginbey did indeed have groin soreness. The hope is they caught it early before it escalated into full scale OP and the issue has settled down

That he’s begun ramping his training loads back up is hopefully a sign that the issue has been resolved

Jesus still worried about Ginbey just in case there's any possible risk of OP.
Hewett has hopefully gotten over his issues.
With Reid and Hall drafted, you'd want all 4 of them starring for WC in the engine room for the next decade and beyond.

I assume he's guessing based on his training load being eased off. To which I say good, I'm glad they aren't training him to the point of injury and are aware of the risk of developing OP.

Problem is the work load he did last year coming back from his hammie and more importantly what he hid on the 6 week break.

Has he done the damage already going too hard too early in his career?

Would be an unmitigated disaster if Ginbey has developed OP. Like Luke Edwards did, Its not uncommon thrse days with the training loads kids put on themeselves

Also not uncommon from training on hard surfaces .

The sooner our club admits that the MRP surface and optus are causing our injury list the better .

Do it now while it matters less in the scheme of ladder positions

* sake.

Only an ankle tweak apparently, but still. * sake.

Luckless West Coast midfielder Campbell Chesser has sustained a pre-season setback with an ankle injury putting the young star on ice.

Chesser, 20, was a spectator at training on Monday morning, with The West Australian understanding he tweaked an ankle at training last week.

The injury is believed to not be too serious and he is set to be back on track in the next few weeks.

It comes as West Coast co-captain Liam Duggan left the track on Monday with what appears to be a right knee injury.

Duggan limped off the track and straight into the hands of a trainer, with both assistant coach Luke Shuey and senior coach Adam Simpson showing concern.

The premiership defender spent significant time on the bench getting work done as his teammates continued on with training.

It comes after a frustrating first two seasons at the Eagles for Chesser since being drafted with pick No.14 in 2021.

Chesser was on track for an early debut in his maiden season, before a devastating ankle injury in a pre-season clash against Fremantle ruined his first season.

The impressive midfielder sustained bone and ligament damage, which required surgery and forced him to watch on as 16 Eagles made their AFL or club debut.

It is not known if Chesser has injured the same ankle as his surgically repaired one.

The injury is a blow to the impressive wingman, who had returned to pre-season condition in excellent condition and is building a close relationship with No.1 draftee Harley Reid.

“Campbell Chesser, he’s been huge for me to be honest, he’s come from a country town too so I feel like he’s been someone I can lean back into,” Reid said earlier this year.

“Me and him get along pretty well so I feel like he’s really helped me mentally and physically too.”

Chesser would finally make his debut in round one of last season, but would be restricted to only 14 appearances because of injury.

He injured his left knee in the disastrous round three Western Derby, which had the Eagles sustain multiple casualties on their way to only a three-win season.

The Victorian is locked away at the Eagles until the end of 2025.

Meanwhile, second-year midfielder Reuben Ginbey looked good as he continues to be managed through the pre-season because of groin issues

It is understood Ginbey has been experiencing discomfort in his groin and was pulled out of several drills after taking part in the main session early.

There was no sign of injured midfielder Dom Sheed (ankle) and Elijah Hewett (foot) as they build towards their first practice match against Fremantle on February 24.

In a good sign, defender Josh Rotham made his first appearance on the track in more than a week, working through a series of run throughs with the rehab group on the opposite oval.

Wow Duggan was our make shift midfield and he's injured. If AFL wants our club to be a powerhouse we need pick 1 and pick 2 in this upcoming draft.

Then we have 2x star midfield + Harley reid

That was from Simpson’s press conference at the beginning of last week when he also said he was due to start running again but had blisters from new boots

He was doing some light work yesterday in an indication that hopefully he’s ready to get back into it
Next it will be:

"he got hit on the toe by a Michell Stark yorker, he needs a scan"

I'm gravely concerned about Gibney and Hewett.

Stories most of the preseason doesn't sit right with me. Where there is smoke, there is fire.

Only one problem.

The AFL doesn't care if we are are a powerhouse. We are rich and don't cost them a dime.

So why would they help in any way. We aren't Victorian or an expansion side.

Gotta hand it to the club

Their ability to find new and exotic injuries for players is unparalleled

Who had sesamoiditis on their bingo card

I’ve never heard of it
