With questions continuing over a potential Hinkley-Carr handover, Koch told the ABC this week that the club highly values internal promotions.

"Ken's really supportive of Josh developing into a senior coach. Ken has publicly said he'd love to see him as a senior coach of Port Adelaide," Koch said when questioned on Carr's future.

"We have extraordinarily high regard for him. He's gone away, he's worked at other organisations, he knows the Port Adelaide way.

We put a lot of effort in coaching development. We would rather train up from internally than outside. We have a development coach for our coaches, so we put a lot of resources into it.

Koch declined that Carr had an understanding from the Port Adelaide board that he would be the coach to succeed Hinkley.

On today's Offsiders, Caroline Wilson asked Koch to explain his notorious response to Andrew Wilkie's speech: "it was 6:00 in the morning ... there was a bit of confusion on my part."

Wilson: "I was amazed by your comments, David, when the Wilkie story dropped. You seem to confuse the elicit drugs policy with the WADA policy. Part of what the AFL is doing is trying to prevent players from being drug cheats. That's what we all want."

Koch: "We all want that, so put your arrow back into the quiver. This was an interview done the morning after on a radio programme which I thought we were talking about the AFLW drugs issue."

Wilson: "You're a club director whose own club seems to understand the policy better than you did that day."

Koch: "Nah, nah, nah. I didn't realise that was the policy that was ... because it was 6:00 in the morning. And I got the run down the night before. I thought it was the AFLW one. And I was a bit blind-sided and it was reported to me on the radio programme that it was the drug sort of system, going through, which we are all working under. There was a bit of confusion on my part."

Embarrassing stuff.

Which one of the Hinkleys is the coaches development coach?

Now we know why hes on the bench arms folded leaning against a post. He was banned from it.

"This is bullshit, you cant ground Kenny"

No one puts Kenny in the corner.

Lol "went away to other clubs"

Yeah, the only one without a premiership besides the expansion clubs.

Woohoo

Kockie be like: "hmm these port Adelaide supporters think their club is special so they'll love it if I only give jobs to "port Adelaide people" inside the club."

Yeah the problem is you've systematically destroyed that winning culture, so now using only internal "talent" when we haven't achieved anything for two decades is the worst possible thing you could do.

I will never understand how a guy like him made it this far. Imagine the interview. Wearing a suit from when he was 20kg lighter and speaking in "you'se", "i seen" and "i done it". How ******* s**t our options must have been, and I suspect the board knew he was a hick but Andrew Mackie told KT to look past that.

******* hell. Surely they didnt go with their gut on that one, surely they had misgivings and just said yeah ok good enough we can give this slob a job for a few years and go back to the well and see whats on the market then.

Instead he managed a dead cat bounce which he then solidified 12 years off the back of.

The mind boggles.
And the icing on the cake is the fact that he's apparently worthy of a succession plan - aren't you supposed to win a flag first?
