If only :(
Like Sloane, he'll probably play until asked to stop. It's amazing how they can tell Crouch that he'll be playing SANFL, not have a contract and then watch him force their hand to play him and win a new contract, but others can continue to play terribly with no consequence.
Like with Luke Brown, the only hope we have of Smith retiring on his own accord is emphatically telling him the club has moved past him and he’ll spend the rest of his contract in the reserves.

Something seriously crook in Tobruk .. Dawson 15 disposals has to be season low, so may plodders today and lack of intent is pretty concerning. Hawks played extremely well and have been knocking on the door for a while , I get we're missing some handy players though didn't expect us to roll over that easily.

Dawson was injured, ‘passed’ a fitness ‘test’ to play. In Burgo we trust.

We don’t do that, let’s face it, Sloane would be playing if his eye allowed him to. Mackay had to retire against club wishes , Nix wanted him going around again.

Did you not read what I said? “AS BAD AS WE’VE BEEN”.
Yes, I read it just fine when it was in lower case, here:
As bad as we’ve been, umpiring has been diabolical!
At the time, because one phrase followed the other, I thought you'd linked them causally, somehow.
Clearly, I was mistaken. Sorry about that.

However, if you want to shout at someone/something, shout at
--- the Club for giving Nicks that ridiculous 2-year extension, and/or
--- Nicks, for being such a dud @ selection and for his game-day cluelessness, and/or
--- the next High Tide, for coming in, which will have as much effect.

Then there was the Umpiring, which you thought was diabolical.
Looked to me and another poster in the Thread like Mitchell and his Merry Mob got, read, understood and applied the AFL memo about how htb was going to be Umpired. They certainly played to it by being first to the ball and better at disposing than the Crows who seemed not to adapt at all, which added to the unbalanced Free Kick ledger (29-21 I think ...?).

And then the Crows line up for a guard of honour for Gunston, a bloke who left us to join the team he plays in 3 flags for. Are you ****ing kidding me? I cant believe they did that. Who is the soft poor campaigner that instructed the players to do that. Was it the Captain or coach? Who ever organised that needs to step down or be sacked. What a laughing stock these campaigners are.

About time some of these pundits started to put our feet to fire and properly scrutinise us. Good on Kane for calling us out. We are far to nice of a club and yesterday all but proved it. Yesterday was a like for like game and we completely bottled it. Time some of the people in hierarchy of the club started getting held account for there terrible decision making. 7 years with no finals is completely inexcusable.

Yeah, I'm sure all our players yesterday played with Gunston and are as bitter as the supporters lol.

And really now we’re not any closer to being a genuine challenger than we were when we started the rebuild

I didn't think 250 games warrant a guard of honour walk off, and especially not in yesterday's circumstances.

I saw Sam Jacobs at the Crowne Plaza in 2012. I had run into Buddy Franklin, Luke Breust and Grant Birchall in the lift.
Obviously staying there as I ran into Cyril Rioli at the breakfast bar the next morning but said to Jacobs are you catching up with Cunston to which he laughed and said yeh mate.
I have no problem with players leaving but the way him and Lever left reaks of cowardice.
