Look, we bring in Curtin, maybe rotate Laird back.

What else, though?

Dowling probably deserves a game, but are we really expecting much from a midfielder grabbed at the end of the draft?

There's not many pushing up.

I don't get this thought pattern, we can't drop players underperforming consistently because someone performing in the magoos was a low draft pick.

Dropping underperforming players puts a line in the sand, the minimum effort and outcome we expect

When we struggle to find a single free option 90% of the time we have the ball, but then the opposition have free players everywhere as soon as we turn it over, there are only two possible excuses. Poor structure, and poor workrate. Or both, I guess.

That match was an embarrassment to both the coaches and the players.
We have the same result every time a team comes out with a high intensity and put pressure on the ball carrier. Our guys panick and then produce a quick hack kick or handball to a team mate under pressure. We have no plan B when this happens and the opposition scores quickly and easily.

Hawthorn are better coached already. Their positioning around the ground and stoppages was almost perfect. They would put in the little blocks to allow their runners to break clear. Our stat padders wait 1 metre off the play and demand the ball only to be under immense pressure immediately.
It’s a shame Borlase didn’t have a bit more pace, he does well in other areas of his game.
Sholl showed again today why he isn’t cut out for AFL. Great skills but struggles big time against a pressure side. Still easy to run around.

Credit to Nicks for trying a couple of different things today. Whether they worked or not is irrelevant, you need to do things differently. Now if only he would ditch this gameplan that repeatedly fails against a high pressure side and coached to our strengths.

How do we know if Dowling is up to it or not if he doesn't get a chance.

Doesn't really matter what draft pick he was taken, if he is performing well in the SANFL he should be rewarded with a debut. Otherwise there is no integrity with our selection policy.

Cook at least uses the ball and actually has skills. Yes he can get more of the ball but he is absolutely the LEAST of our problems.

Didn't see him cough it up, handball to a stationary ROB, squib or turn it over.
Fair enough but the fact he successfully avoided stuffing things up is because he never had any influence on the game... until the junk at the end.
I like the guy but his lack of effective output is a career negative. He won't last without significant improvement... in spite of his alleged talent.

Not our biggest problem but there is no sugar coating his contribution to a team failure today.

This is such a shit take. Good lord.

It's not 300 nor his final game. We've just put in yet another shit performance so shake his hand, say congrats and get the **** off the field.
The game was our chance to do something if we wanted to shove it up him.

After the siren... meh.

How good was the West Coast game though?

I bet we leave the highlights from last week on the screen at training again this week.

Just need Nicks to tell everyone how proud he is of them.

West Coast pushing the St Kilda juggernaut to be within 2-3 goals. All we need to do is perform like we did against the all-conquering Eagles against other teams, it’s not that hard. Players just need to do it.
