The Decline and Fall of the Richmond Empire (2017–2020) by bradfisher14

Historians have debated for millennia about the reasons for the fall of the Richmond Empire. But the prevailing school of thought attributes the decline to a general malaise that had taken hold within the club. In The Decline and Fall of the Richmond Empire (2017–2020), bradfisher14 dated the beginning of the decline of Richmond to the year 2023 after the exile of their emperor Damienus Hardwickus to the Gold Coast and the fading powers of their greatest warrior Dustinus Martinus.

The "long peace" that ended with Hardwickus and Martinus, in this scholar's view, "introduced a slow and secret poison into the vitals of the empire....The decline of Richmond was the natural and inevitable effect of their period of immoderate greatness. It was unavoidable that the slow march of time would one day see the powers of this empire decline with only Martinus left of their once proud legion to defend them."

"Their unprecedented Premiership success ripened the principle of decay; the causes of destruction multiplied with the extent of their dynasty; and as soon as time or accident had replaced their premiership heroes with Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper, the stupendous fabric yielded to the pressure of its own weight. Weakened by internal decay, the Richmond Empire was overwhelmed by a deluge of Carlton goals in Round 16 2024 and finally succumbed to its long overdue demise. Now it is left to look forward to a decade of round one losses and high draft picks. Time will tell who the next great empire to emerge will be, but only one thing is certain: the transition of power is seldom peaceful."

Alright, enough fun and games. We know what this one is all about - Richmond V Carlton at the MCG.

They've enjoyed an incredible period of success but now is the time for the tide to turn. I remember a time when these fixtures were guaranteed heavy wins for the Blues. It's time for payback.

Our last meeting was a characteristically nail-biting affair. But it seems that our team has evolved so much from then until now.

Can we continue our winning ways against the falling empire? Do we make any changes to a winning formula?

Based on potential VFL output, Piito

Pittonet could have 350 hitouts, 40 touches and kick 10 goals and he's still not getting back in.

It's got nothing to do with him personally, it's about team balance.

We've learned our lesson. I don't see us playing two tap ruckman ever, ever, ever again.

I agree but towards the tail end against bottom 8 sides which we have a few it will be a way of semi resting protecting a huge asset.
Too be primed for finals tilt as we cement top four how we “manage” our team will become more of an option hopefully

If we bring Cerra in, I wouldn't mind if we manage Kennedy or Hewett.

Either that or Make one of them sub, then sub Cerra out at 3qtr time. Or we can just get Cerra to play in the 2's. I don't want us throwing Kennedy forward or back just for the sake of keeping him in the team.

Mots will have to really impress to earn his spot back, Durds will be the one he replaces if that eventuates.

Cottrell still some time away, Fanta might keep his spot.

Nice to see 15 listed players running around in the magoo's tomorrow, maybe 16 if C Durdin plays.

As for next week we should never take any opponent lightly they will get Hopper back and also have the BYE this week so gives a few other players who may have missed this week (Prestia) a chance to be ready for next week.

I would bring Cerra back possibly as a sub, otherwise no change.

I thought Fanta really cemented his spot tonight.

In the twos.
To be fair he does pass the ball well by hand and foot
He just lacks confidence and especially around goals. It's a shame.

With returning players coming back it will be performance based selections which is a fantastic position to be in, Cerra and Motlop are the clear standouts when they are ready to go, Martin when he can string a few games together is also a monty as well…
Bring them back through the reserves and get them ready for our finals campaign 👍

Thinking Cez is a given, with possibly Motlop finding himself as sub to give Durds game time.

Thinking Fantasia the out for Cerra.

Not against Pitto giving TDK a serious chop out now and then. Nank might be the one to double team. Need to keep Pitto up to the mark (and hungry) through the year. I reckon we can find someone to “rest” even though we just had a bye.

Fantasia is rolling through the wing rotation which Durdin, Motlop and Martin are not suited.
How they maneuver the chess pieces in the next few weeks will be very interesting.

Durdin - Motlop
Fantasia - Cerra
O Hollands - Cottrell
Fogarty - Martin
Fogarty won’t be dropped here on out. Durdin is the only likely change (and maybe fantasia) but maybe Kennedy or Hewett get moved to the sub role.
