I actually thing Bowes was one of our better players in the first half, but he is definitely not a guy who dominate at stoppages. Atkins tried hard but his lack of pace was really exposed. Bruhn remains disappointing.
Did Bowes start at center bounces I don't recall seeing him in there if not I reckon it's a mistake.

I think the MC will want to review that last 5 minutes very closely, 1 point up, 2 minutes to go.
Now I know with the 666 rule you can't put players back, but after the bounce we had another throw up, where were our numbers?! Why weren't our half forwards pushing to get around the contest to reduce open space and/or crowd the contest, why were our midfielders streaming GOAL SIDE of the contest instead of ensuring the Lions didn't get numbers on their goal side, and give themselves a chance to score.
We failed in those crucial moments late. Didn't look to protect the lead. Didn't look to reduce space. Didn't look to reduce run. Didn't look to get numbers around the ball.
It honestly looked like it was 5 minutes into the first quarter with how they set up and moved.
Very very disappointing, and a lesson that has to be learned.

How much of an influence does King have in those situations, and what impact did his lack of guiding voice have last night?

Holmes 20 possessions on 68 minutes game time.

Also, did you know that on a full games minutes this was the equivalent of 33+ disposals. I'm sure you're a fan of that tidbit.

Optimistically, our younger players like Dempsey, Humphries etc have now both the confidence they could make finals and the experience of playing one. Most of our best players last night were all under 26 (Miers, Henry, Holmes). Idk, I just feel given people were tipping us 8-12th this season, we really did perform well.

Given the turnover of our mature players we did incredibly well. Even last night Stewart had a stinker and Danger and Cameron were ok at best by their standards. We lost our best player half way through and still could've snuck into a grand final.

It's an immense opportunity missed. But it's also a great sign that we were able to compete for the flag while so many older players transitioned out of the team or onto the periphery. I didn't think that was possible.

Really? The entire team? Even though we were leading with 3 minutes to go and led for 59% of game time? And our best and most influential and structurally important midfield was out for the second half, coinciding with PRECISELY when Brisbane got hold of us?
I absolutely understand that without Holmes or Danger in the midfield, our other players are exposed as not being consistent enough to best the best teams. That’s what was addressed mid—season to some degree and will absolutely be targeted this off season.

I was pretty shattered and intoxicated when I wrote that.

But I thought overall we were pretty poor, especially with composure for the whole night. Everything looked rushed. We didn’t look for targets inside 50, instead kicked to a contest and hoped for an out the back goal.
It almost worked too.

It looked to me like the instructions were keep running, keep the ball moving and Brisbane will eventually run out of steam.

It's no surprise, but nonetheless it remains staggering to me that there are such feeble minded, poisonous people in society.

Shout out to our mods for taking care of business.
I was surprised they included me because I only really talk here and on the Media & Entertainment board. I don't really interact with other supporters about footy-related stuff.

Same.

I don't participate on any other Board, or any other forum. I just stay in this nice, warm burrow right here 😊

Clearly is. Unless something dramatic is happening at the other end which has all the players in the background looking the other way.

He takes some absolutely brilliant photos at games and shots that others aren't in a position to get

I've been reading many posts all year after a win or lose. So many people angry, retiring players, sacking coaches the list goes on. But after reading comments after this loss. People don't seem as angry or upset. I hate how people say doesn't matter we lost, cause we would have lost next week. That's a losers attitude and mindset. You got to be in it to win. Anything can happen. This is a game we should have won and we all know it.... Thats why I feel it hurts more. One last thing is a can't believe everyone on here is a geelong supporter and sees everything so differently. It's crazy.

The big screen literally shows Ollie in the same position from a different angle. It's just a filter.

It's the goal after Miers turned into Messi - so maybe a few players in the background are all WTF, how did that happen

I've read someone suggest it from a remote camera - guessing Michael can't be everywhere at once and has a few set up around the ground, and it's due to that tech it gets that look

With fair umpiring we probably win. They got so many 50 50 calls in key spots on the ground. We got maybe 1 or 2. And most of our frees seemed to be on the half back flank where it didnt really matter.

Thought humprhries looked great again. O. Henry stepped up. Stewart did some amazing saves but also some diabolical stuff ups. Stengle was just off. He got the ball but just had no touch with it which is usually his thing.

Holmes going down was just massive.

We just didnt seem to have the fitness to run with them in the second half. Yet we had 16 days off and should of been fresh. Need to work on fitness over pre season.

Think there should be a few more retirements. Rohan and duncan. Its probably time for stanley too but problem is we still need him.

Ill give bruhn a pass because he clearly got injured in the first half and we couldnt sub him bc of the issue with holmes (also shows you how little faith we had in duncan).
But atkins is hitting the wall rapidly we need clark and knevitt to go straight him this off season.

That Brisbane midfield is the best in the league TBH. It’s not quite Ablett, Bartel, Corey, Selwood & Ling but it’s up there.
All in prime age demo, sans Ashcroft who was essentially a #1 pick.
Looking forward to Holmes, Smith, Bruhn, Bowes in a couple of years. We need one more A grader though.
Atkins probably best to take Bews spot in the back pocket if possible.

Who gives a shit. People are leaving the game with literal brain damage

Yes but we are not teaching players to protect themselves we are rewarding them for letting their head hit the ground for a free when they could be bracing themselves (see mcluggage). Its becoming soccer levels of staging (which is why that game is crap) and we need to put some onus back on the player being tackled. If they dont a whole generation of fans like me will simply leave the game and go watch other sports instead.
