Sam Harris , makes an excellent point re Trump , comparing him to “Hitler and other bad guys”
But we have some Trump fans on here that seem to respect Harris as a voice of reason , but would vote for Trump anyway because the other side is more authoritarian ?

Sam Harris starts taking down Fridman (Rogan/Petersen clones) around 13 minutes onwards. He never misses on Trump.

Trump. $1-62
Harris. $2-30

Like MAGA-ists spamming the polls that "apparently" show Trump with some ridiculously large leads, I'd suggest money is being tipped into betting agencies by Trump leaners trying to give the impression he's the favourite.
Not sure if Americans are bombarded with gambling odds to the degree we are, so likely these odds have minimal impact on how people will vote. (Hopefully. 😐)

I did hear gj, someone had a one off bet of US $7.8 mil .o Trump.
Speculation it may have been Musk. Happened similar time to him endorsing Trump.

Yeah, has been discussed on the SRP board, KH.

Not sure if it's Trump's appeasers trying to make him think he's a winner by blowing smoke up his ar5e, or Musk and co are as delusional as Trump (starting to look that way).
(And for any MAGA-ites, I didn't just say Musk is stupid, but delusional. 😉 He is WEIRD though, and seemingly also severely lacking in an ability to function as part of society. )

In the Fox interview a day or two ago the interviewer was a bit of an arse talking over her when she was trying to answer questions but one question was interesting - why are so many people supporting Trump if he is so bad / are they all stupid? It was a baiting attempt, but what is the answer? The Dems don't seem to be addressing that publicly. Maybe they don't want to go there.

I guess partly
policies - abortion seems to be a biggie
being traditional Conservative voters
Trump's blustering impresses some as being a strong leader

Fortunately, the USA is a completely completely different culture to Australia Fossie. The yanks are severely undereducated. They have very little health care, are obsessed with celebrity and lack a grip on domestic or international reality.

It is very much a case of the ‘have’s’ and the ‘have not’s’.

‘Anti-intellectualism’ ,or destruction for the sake of it and loathing of the ‘elite’ (educated and open-minded) sit at about 30% in the USA, in Australia around 10-15%, of which we occasionally get a glimpse of on this thread. The other 18% are rusted on GOP supporters, who like being a doggies supporters, cannot let go.

The Republican Party is finished. The world’s hope is that Trump loses, dies naturally so the most powerful country in the world can move away from the cult.

I think your summary is spot on Bris.
Generally they are just so insulated, the uneducated are almost frightening in their ignorance.
Trump camp certainly is preying on them.

Reminder that Joe Biden's odds went out to $4 on the night of the 2020 election. The bookie's odds mean nothing.
It's also a reflection of Trumps following of Steve Bannon's mantra of "flooding the zone with shit" misinformation campaign. The imbecile say something outrageous, the media gives it wall to wall coverage and his omnipresence builds a sense of inevitability about it. All the while nobody in the media wants to talk about how crazy he actually is. Because he's a massive content generating machine for them.

It's no coincidence that his favouritism with the bookies has come about in the weeks since he put away the dog whistle and picked up the racism bullhorn. Something that is at the very core of his being.

Baier was trying to bait her into a campaign killing "deplorables" moment. Harris handled that beautifully by turning the question back on him by pointing out the obvious that it's Trump who is forever denigrating any American who dare not vote for him. Like obsessing over Bidens obvious cognitive decline all the while ignoring Trumps. The interview was a perfect example of how the media sane washes and parse Trumps craziness and how they hold Democrats to an impossible standard.

JFC. The man had a rally the other day in a baking hot auditorium where people were passing out. And did he pull the plug on the event. Nope the narcissist wouldn't do that. He (of all people) actually mocked one of the people who passed out for being fat. He then spent the next 39 minutes weirdly swaying to music.

He's out of his ****ing mind.

With any luck, Trump's base are so uneducated and stupid that they'll forget to vote this time around ... or get lost on the way

Well...he did instruct his cultists to vote on January 5th.

So there's that.
