Great work Zoops - this is actually something that fans are getting excited for... I can't even remember the last time that happened!
Side note - I can't imagine anybody would be lining up at CrowMania for a version with the current logo on it (even exactly the same design but with the current...
Not all clubs sack coaches 3 years into a rebuild…
There has been improvement, just inconsistently. Don’t get me wrong - I’m not happy with the status quo, but I’m also not willing to put it all on the coach.
The AFL and MCC would meet their $$ needs, and inadvertently improve the game's standing nationally.
...The people win as much as they are able to with the current leadership.
The best option for the game itself within the current constraints of the short-sighted contract is a bidding system. The AFL can put caveats on the system to leverage maximum value (e.g. 70,000 capacity / a city can't host consecutive years).
Also, this meet's the AFL's core priorities:
a)...
Plenty of bad and ugly, but the good is that I expected us to get absolutely smacked every week over the last month, but have been impressed by the team's competitiveness.
I don't want to overstate it (certainly not on BigFooty!), but this new guernsey release seems to take a vastly different tone to the previous few years of marketing spin...
Given the current contract - I'm well aware that this is all a waste of hot air, but nonetheless I think that the following would take the game to another level:
- A bidding system to 'win' the rights to host the entire package - GF/parade/Brownlow - for 2 consecutive years (can't win 2...
Yep, I bet this has absolutely nothing to do with the AFL... They definitely wouldn't have approached a sponsor and pointed out what they saw as a marketing opportunity.
$30m?!
Imagine both the sheer amount of money the AFL could earn *and* the national promotion that the game would receive if they held a GF auction* every year...
*conditions apply:
- states cannot host for more than two consecutive years
- stadium capacity must reach at least 65k
- GF...
TBH an entire cultural reset is required, which would include the creation of an improved logo, a vision of what the club wants to be (no more 'we can still technically make finals, and who knows what will happen then'), and a genuine engagement with its history (including SANFL). I'm sick of...
Based on past action, the only way there will be a 'tipping point' will be if Ricciuto, Chapman, or Fagan make another 'then maybe they don't need to barrack for the footy club' comment that draws some external scrutiny.
Let's be real, our opinions as supporters and/or members don't really matter.
You’re exactly right - This is far more significant than bad choices on draft day etc, which can happen to every team at some stage.
AFC don’t want for anything in a business sense, which it could be argued has contributed to the self-satisfied/lack of killer instinct attitude in the club...
Well, the club does have a track record of accepting draft penalties in favour of head-office sanctions (Trigg/Tippett). If the AFL really wanted to make a statement they would target the thing the club treasures most: on-field success sorry, my mistake: financial success.
Yeah they were my thinking too, perhaps including Lynch (for reasons unknown) rather than Brad. With a couple of those retiring or traded it would a pretty promising start if we did want to open the chequebook to some emerging talent...
Be interested to know who posters think our top 5 players are salary-wise... Is there anybody on that list likely to edge into retirement and free up some space...?
Sounds like you should write an article ;)
Seriously, though, when was the last time a South Australian journalist actually wrote a long-form critique of something at the Crows?
I was dumpster diving behind Triple M studios and managed to find Riccuito's coaching staff wishlist:
Director of Coaching - Mark Riccuito (time to take a break from the board for a couple of years)
Senior Coach – Matthew Nicks (Until Van Berlo is ready)
Senior Assistant / Midfield Coach –...
I think we can all agree that the discussion around 'Adelaide's decline' is but a subplot in the ongoing chronicles of Red Bull 's fixation on Justin Reid.
McLeod walking into our midfield next week would still be the most skilled and probably best conditioned player on the list 🤣.

Given Reiwoldt's travel woes, it's a good thing a Tasmanian team never got off the ground during his career - imagine the stress of all that travel!
In all seriousness, I heard Lloyd's comments and I thought that they were pretty fair - he wasn't criticising Jack, but just noting that being...
