The old Dick Van Dyke Show sitcom in the 1960s was recorded if front of a live audience with the exception of one episode -22 Nov 1963
It was thought that the audience reaction wouldn't be good enough due to the Kennedy assassination so they used a laughtrack
That's rather faint praise
The characters seem more interesting than those on similar shows at least
The worst show of this type that I've stumbled upon is Baggage Wars in which people bid on abandoned suitcases
Great exponents of the torp were Blight, Doug Wade, E.J. Whitten
Recently saw a DVD of the 1966 GF and Saints' Baldock and Cooper booted massive torp goals as did Tuddenham of Collingwood
Interesting to see the fullback kick out with a dropkick
The 1939 GF was played on 30 September
World War 2 had started on 3 September which may account for the relatively small crowd of 78,000
I saw the ads for Sham-Wow and wondered if it was any good
One day I saw it in Woolworths and bought it
I've had a lot of use from it, cleaning the car, washing down walls etc.
That clip of Peter McKenna interviewing Jeans over the Bruns incident was one of the most tense moments ever seen on Australian TV
Brilliant stuff in the midst of a normally light-hearted show
Bernie Quinlan played early in his career with the Bulldogs at CHB
Once at the MCG he was opposed to Rex Hunt and several times he outmarked Rex, ran off and landed the ball in the goalsquare
Yeah
Joe N was interviewed on TV and said "We will win"
Imagine Sam Mitchell saying that on TV today!
Sportspeople were different back then
Joe often played while drunk or stoned
He had a TV talkshow in which the celebrity guests drank whisky from their "coffee cups"
I disliked Golden Gun and Moonraker because they tried to incorporate other genres which were popular at the time -e.g. Enter The Dragon-style martial arts and Star Wars -type sci-fi
Live And Let Die did the same with blaxploitation but I quite liked it - I think it's one of the underrated...
On SEN lots of Swans supporters have been crying over the injuries they had and what could have been
We had heaps of injuries and so did almost every other club - Hawthorn had some vital ones like Schoenmakers
Watson on Monday morning - "Is there a Chilean dialogue or do they speak Spanish ?"
This was in relation to Melbourne Victory's new signing
They then steered Postecoglou onto talking AFL
Harf's back to his timid best after briefly taking a stand re Essendon
All's right with the world
