I don't doubt for a second that Bing can play. It's just that we shouldn't pay overs for him, just because he's Max's brother. How many 200cm+ players can you fit into a fwd line anyway?
Unless we get massive unders for Bing (which we won't) I don't see why we need him. When will St Kilda realise that the feel-good story of a family connection does not automatically translate into on-field success? (Raph Clarke, Nicholas Winmar, etc, etc)
You can't clone Max King and you don't...
Jealous of course, but Melbourne this year, like the doggies in 2016, go to show that you CAN have a year where the whole team somehow plays to the best of their ability and no one gets injured, and all of a sudden you're in a GF.
It's possible. Even for us.
We're a couple of A grade midfielders short. We've known this for years but haven't been able to do anything about it. That's why hannebry, crouch, Jones et al have been brought in. Problem is they're just not quite good enough to really take it up to the big boys.
We're dying for Clark...
Carlton brought the pressure and we wilted. How many times have we seen that this year.
And Billings. Two weeks in a row now he's broken our momentum by missing easy set shots when we need them the most. He's a complete liability.
Our backs really fell apart this match, but look at the starting 6 we should have had, bar injuries this year.
Paton - Howard - Geary
Wilkie - Carlisle - Sinclair
Literally only Wilkie left standing! Doesn't include Frawley or Battle (also injured) either
We literally didn't have a backline.
I lot of talk about personell but it was the the two things that have killed us since forever that let us down.
1. Goalkicking - Billings miss being the classic example. Eat that up and we would have had some huge momentum.
2. Last kick inside 50. Atrocious yet again. Compare our kicks to the...
Defence is looking rock solid. Doogs Wilkie and Highmore just aren't losing contests, and are getting lots of good help from Ryder and Membrey. Frees up the runners like Hill and Sinclair to make space and be creative.
Feel a bit sorry for coffield as he's not getting back for a while with the...
It's a nice feeling to wake up after a win like that, but let's be realistic here – we'll never be a premiership contender if DMac and Dunstan are at the core of our midfield.
I love those two – they try their guts out every time – but they're papering over the cracks with effort. We have such...
