Rule clarification on ROoke v Johnson Incident

It was a free kick to Johnson. Rooke didn't have eyes on the ball - end of story.

Wtf is wrong with the coaches in the afl

They were still a young side back then, still developing and still maturing. Most players don't hit their peak until around 27 years of age, and alot of Geelong's players have reached that age.

    Worst cheer squad flags/banners?

Now it's Rodney Eade: Our Inspiration. Pretty soon they'll run out of ideas and it will simply say ______ Our Coach What was on that Peter Bell banner when he was playing for North?

    Kozi Cleared To Play!!!

Good point, how am I going to interpret that  If a player is slammed into the ground, the means should not be taken into consideration. That's why I find Milburn's report more puzzling, since neither a free kick was awarded, nor a report made by the umpire. Two different actions...

    Kozi Cleared To Play!!!

Why should it matter whether your opponent has the ball, or whether you think your opponent has the ball? A dangerous tackle is a dangerous tackle. He still slammed his opponent into the turf. Isn't a trip a trip, or a strike a strike?

    Leo Barry gets off - oh, that's right (he's a SWAN) ;)

The Swans are protected, but the Swans are finished for 2008 and so is Leo Barry's career. Save the rant for the next time Adam Goodes gets off.

NRL finals system V AFL finals system

Because the Storm battled for 26 rounds to finish on top of the table, and all that should count for nothing more than a second chance? My argument isn't so much that the Storm have to play in Brisbane, more that the 8th placed Warriors get a home final. If the Dragons had beaten the Sea...

I know how the seeding works. I don't agree with it.

NRL finals system V AFL finals system

Then scrap the finals system altogether. What's the point of playing 22 rounds (26 in the NRL) and finishing on top of the ladder only to come away with nothing if you lose one match.

NRL finals system V AFL finals system

I've got no problem with the McIntyre system, just don't reward the Warriors with a home final for finishing the season with a record of 13-11, scraping into the finals and winning one match of football.

NRL finals system V AFL finals system

The AFL finals system rewards performance throughout the season. The NRL system does not. I hardly think it's fair that the Storm have to slog it out for 26 rounds, virtually giving up 3 wins while players are on State Of Origin duties, still manage to finish on top of the table, then lose in a...

    Fox Teams

Saints scraped into the top 4 on percentage. The Bulldogs, however, were a clear cut top 4 side all season. Might have had something to do with their selection of the Pies.

    Is Joel Selwood overrated?

You could argue he's not even top 5 at Geelong but that doesn't make him overrated. His rating is based on what he's achieved in just two seasons of football and what he is likely to achieve throughout his football career. And I doubt people would think he was overrated if he didn't play...

More proof that Non Victorian sides need more benefits

Tell that to North Melbourne. Daniel Motlop was one of Port's best this season. And who says Warnock wants to leave for family reasons? I would've thought the reason he wants to leave is for more opportunity. Sandilands is number one at Freo and will be most of his career.

    Is Joel Selwood overrated?

He was voted 6th most valuable, not 6th best. Most valuable does not mean best.

I've forgotten what losing feels like :D Seriously, I've gotten so used to winning, I no longer worry about losing.

Andrew Mackie - when will he get some respect?

While he is unaccountable, he's given license to become a midfielder because the Geelong defence are good at covering for eachother. His opponents allow him to remain unchecked and that's why he's underrated. I'm sure if he were playing in another side, he'd be more accountable, but perhaps...

Leigh Matthews Trophy: the respect or the disrespect of your peers?

Since it was first awarded to Leigh Matthews in 1982, the MVP has been won by true champions of the competition. Versatility, ability to play under pressure, skill, leadership, courage, respect for all players, and overall value to a team, are all qualities found in the MVP Do all players...

    How Can geelong be beaten

Geelong don't add an extra man in defence. Geelong's midfield run back to create extra numbers in defence. Then when the opposition turn the ball over, they run the ball with numbers. Get the ball in quickly and you negate their numbers. That's the only way to beat Geelong. Beat them at...

    How Can geelong be beaten

Their forward line is a strength. They don't rely on bags of goals from one or two players. They had 11 goalscorers on Sunday and regularly share the goals around in large numbers. They are the highest scoring team in the competition. Sorry, try again.

The fact is over the last 43 matches, only Port and Collingwood have beaten Geelong.

Leigh Matthews Trophy: the respect or the disrespect of your peers?

Why highlight Geelong's voting? Geelong could have given all their votes to Buddy and it wouldn't have made a lick of difference.

Leigh Matthews re-joins Seven AFL finals coverage

Doesn't matter who they add, their coverage is farcical. Case in point, being forced to sit through two ad breaks in succession. One when they cut to commercial after Brad Ottens' goal in the third. Two when they cut to commercial after Steve Johnson goaled from the Milne free kick immediately...
