Castagna has always been a terrible kick. It's the main he reason he wasn't taken in the ND. He does plenty if other things to a good enough level. Keep doing those things as he will always be a terrible kick.
Its more difficult to hit the post than kick it between them...

As soon RCD - ROSS -STACK and BOLTON are ready his GONE!!!!

rct and ross are mids and stack is a good half back. only people in line for george's spot are rioli butler weller bolton and maybe one or two others and they are all playing shittier than him atm

I agree that Castanga applies great pressure and BUT THATS NOT ENOUGH- his kicking and decison making are not up to it and will continue to hold the team back!!!!

Absolutely correct. Continually picking Castagna solely to apply pressure, is like picking a batsman in cricket that can't bat simply because they can field. Just like every cricketer must be able to field, every footballer must be able to apply pressure. It's a non-negotiable. If he is solely there for his pressure, then it is a stinging indictment of the rest of the forward line. Frankly his skills and decision making are putrid. We have only been able to carry him to this point because the rest of our forward line has been so good and have been able to compensate for his constant stuff ups. We come back to the pack his days are well and truly numbered. If we don't upgrade on this suburban grade standard footballer we will stagnate and be left behind.

I’m pretty conflicted about anyone else using Robertos catch cry.
But I think I like it.
Hoos will tell you, I've called him that for years (and yes, it is a nod).

Not softness to his touch. In all the finals in 17 I was shitting myself. Even when I watch them now I cringe.

He is a hard little ****er though. And has got the most out of himself.

It’s just the Richmond way...there has to be some bloke kicking for goal from forty metre out that you can’t watch.

Roberto Duran was and always will be a mystical figure of awesomeness

George "Hands of Stone" Castagna

Hoos
Indeed. You wouldn't think his kicking for goal could possibly be worse though, could you.

And what of the other two who were mentioned frequently by one or both of us last week; Butler and Lambert. Rioli was pretty much invisible too.

We should drink beer and solve Richmonds list management woes more often.

I agree. Not sure if it will do any good as I don't think the coach will listen, but it will make us feel a whole lot better!

I’m glad the Sydney Autumn racing carnival will keep me occupied for the next couple of weeks and I’m hoping the RFC coaching team can get the genuine best 22 on the park. I also thought the idea of getting Lynch was to assist Jack as well as prolonging his career. Well how wrong I was when I saw poor old Jack competing against two big monsters in the xxxxing ruck and the taller Lynch resembling a couch potato resting in the goal square.
You couldn’t make this shit up no matter how drunk you were.

Nope recruiting Lynch doesn't change a thing

We have a formula, play one key tall so he can be double and triple teamed by the opposition, surround him by short people (two of whom have appalling decision making and one of which simply can't kick). Play a makeshift ruckman (the reigning coleman medalist) and pretend that it's still 2017 and that preliminary final was some kind of fluke.

You have to wonder what Hardwick and the match committee did all summer?

I'm guessing not much at all. I can pretty much work out one thing they didn't do; watch the PF obsessively to work out a way that it must never happen again. Instead we got the, "It was just a bad day" line.

Same opponent. Same result. Hmmm... what do you think, Dimma, still just one of those days?

He’s such a slow decision maker, I was losing my mind when he marked about 55m out Lynch was 1 out in the gold square if he got it in quickly.
Instead he takes the full 30 seconds and lines up like he’s taking a shot, intje meantime nearly every single player on the ground has congested the forward line and he lobs it to the top of the goal square, does it right away and better then 50/50 chance of a goal.
Instead Collingwood gets the ball abd gets it into their forward line and score.

That drove me crazy also, I was yelling at him to kick it long, Butler is the same also he had an option to kick it to a free player in the pocket but decided to centre it to 2 pies players FFS they are bloody hopeless.

The problem with Castagna and Butler is their pace is too fast for their brain to work out the next move.

The three small forwards is all over now . We need to replace at least two of them them with genuine midfielders.
Move on Dimma it’s 2019
The small forward needs to be more versatile , EG Higgins and to lesser extent dan who still needs to work on midi field game . Baker, Ross , eggy smith , stack and Bolton need to be turned over in butler and George’s role that I hate to say , has become redundant
