Re: Luke McDonald-Future Father Son

Thanks Teffy. Very impressive. Would be great to see another father/son pick running around in North colours again.

another father&son is lachlan fairley floosy's son like dad he is a very good mark&READS THE PLAY WELL.
he took 10marks last week &kicked 4 goals against geelong falcons.

also unlike his dad he is a top fisherman takes after his uncle king snapper. a-la boof.

Rumour goes that his uncle has an appendage like a king snapper. So the story goes.

Re: Luke McDonald-Future Father Son

In that case he'll probably be on this afternoon to tell us all about it.

There was also some footage on TAC Cup Future stars a few weeks back but I haven't managed to find it.

The kick at 1:48 is so elite it's not funny.

The vision, reaction time and pin point skill required is just insane. It's as if he knew exactly where the player was leading before he had received the ball.

Re: Luke McDonald-Future Father Son

2013 Joey7.

He'll cost us our first rounder but I'd be hoping we finish top four in 2013 which would mean that we'll get a bloke currently rated top 3 fr his age group in the country for a pick 14 or above.

Its a steal.

Re: Luke McDonald-Future Father Son

Anyone know how the young lad has performed lately?

I know that this year he has:

- Won the best player for Vic Metro in the U16's.
- Collected 20 touches in the APS-AGS game, playing against quality players about to be drafted this year.
- Made his debut for Oakleigh in the TAC Cup. Had 16 touches.

Anything else? I assume he was required to play school footy, instead of TAC Cup.

McDonald, Swallow, Swallow, Ziebell, Cunnington, Greenwood, Adams, Goldstein, Bastinac = 5 premierships

School football finished in August, he didn't play enough games to qualify for TAC Cup finals for Oakleigh = season over about 4 weeks ago.

Re: Luke McDonald-Future Father Son

We will get a better indication of his potential this year.

He'll play all games for Oakleigh when not on school duty, and he will be one of the main 17 year olds at the national championships.

This is a very strong year, if he has a strong showing at the champs as an underager among this crop then we can get really excited, and I'd expect to be seeing alot of him at North's pre-season this time next year.

Re: Luke McDonald-Future Father Son

I notice a report on the AFL website about Australian under 17 side playing NZ and the second best player for Australia was Luke McDonald. That sounds good even if the opposition was not strong

Video on the AFL website. Not sure which one was Mcdonald though.

Re: Luke McDonald-Future Father Son

Nice vision. Shows a bit of toe, good evasiveness and kicking skills. Doesn't appear to have grown much. If he does and maintains his skill set and athleticism we'll have a key possie player of some potential. If he doesn't grow much we'll have another quality mid sized onballer/flanker.

He's definately filled out since the last time I saw him.

As I said earlier in the thread, he is a rep sprinter, he has explosive pace, and as you can see in that video, he has a raking left foot for a 16 year old, and nice agility for a guy the same size as Ziebell.

Good kicking skills is an understatement, you'll be waiting a while to see a kid with that sort of penetration in his kicking as a 16 year old, the last one that comes to mind is Daniel Rich.

Reminds me of a young Deledio.

Re: Luke McDonald-Future Father Son

I have had a glimpse of him and there's no doubt the kid is verry impressive, but I'm not completely sold on the idea that he will be a KPP.

Perhaps a CHB.

Not even imo, im hoping he doesn't grow too much more, he's perfectly suited as a midfield/half back utility, he grows another inch, he's the same size as Goddard.

That's exactly what I was thinking mate.

He looks beautifully built to be a topline half back.
