Could play as a defensive role player on a wing or HBF if he continues to improve, but that is about his ceiling imo.
Played a bit of half back over the years, from 2021, at AFL level. not great. By 2024 he killed it at half back in the VFL. Got promoted. Highly capable of the D Rioli hard sprinting half back spot. He's better than Banks, but Smith might get the half back gig. Or we scrap the role and put Brown or Trainor IN.

Hugo coves the full field on his wing. He's a lock somewhere. Has experience on Banks, I rate Jack Ross but is the club capable of Master Kan in the VFL? A return of the good old days of 2019 and Ross back in the middle?

It's his 6th year now. With the massive turnover he's now considered a veteran at Punt Rd. Im expecting more improvement and consistency in his game. Losing Dan Rioli & Pickett we need someone to step up n take on the game with some run and carry. He's all but guaranteed to play every week now. Would be nice to see him comfortably improve where he's a top 10 player week in and out.

Thats the problem
The least of our problems. He was good last year and it has been a long time since we had a good wingman that played attacking footy consistently. Pickett was exciting but inconsistent, Mac physical and did a job. HRS has the ability to become a very good wingman if he continues improving.

started winning the ball and critical contests on the wing last year and hit targets instead of blazing away. hard to think of a reason why anyone would be off him after last years huge improvement.

The absurd thing was he came 16th in the B&F, MacIntosh 11th from memory. He took Mac's wing from him whilst Mac went forward in the main and did nothing. Could any supporter thing that Hugo was worse than Mac last season,

They didn't notice Hugo !!
which one is he again?

definitely needs to make himself stand out more

Club voting is the last of my concerns. 18 games last year was career high for the boy. Keep running "Forrest gump" , deep into defence and attack.

have shots at goal when you're up fwd.

He is very good off half back too.

Probably goes to show that there is more to KMacs wing job that meets the eye.
I think he did a great job and a real tick from the club for him to get KMacs wing . There will be a lot of selfless running games and I hope supporters don’t judge him on possessions or heaven help him if he does a bad kick that he will be remembered for ever for.

Well I'm not a great fan of the whole concept of selfless running, I think it's vastly overplayed. Name another club that loves it's pressure forwards like we do, or a wingman who doesn't hurt you. In fact name a player who plays forward just for their forward pressure. Players like Stengle, Papley, Cameron all pressure but kick goals also. Plenty of very good wingman are attacking all round players (like HRS is becoming), who also have a great defensive running game. 11 in the B&F was amazing when he had his worst season stats wise ever.

AFL is a game of copy cat so I guess we will start following. We have time on our side. No doubt HRS may demand a more attacking role with his fearless approach in the air .
