Watching this and have a couple of questions:

Was there much pressure from the media/fans on Mark Taylor going over 20 test innings without a 50?

Elliott batted without the grill. Who was the last test batsman not to wear the grill? I seem to remember Jimmy Adams batting without one.

Huge pressure, was talked about endlessly.

I can see play getting called off with Erasmus being one of the umpires, a little bit of dampness on the ground and he will want to get back to the buffet.

Yeah there it is, the umpires have called stumps, back to the buffet for Marais.

Classy

As others said, nabbing Root before play finished would make it advantage Australia and put plenty of pressure on two of the main Bazballers, Stokes and Bairstow. Chases in England are hard no matter the pitch.

As it stands that small lead even with 2 wickets may even England a sliver in front, simply because of who remain. Ali's finger is the wild card. He has been terrible for largr patches but bowled a few jaffas that surely would increase in innings 2. I could still see him getting 4 vital wickets so if he's out Broad and Anderson would have to be immaculate. Plus Root might need a good bowling cameo.

With further disruptions we may have 120-130 overs left. Let's say they do seriously attack and get all out for 280 as our bowlers regularly get wickets. 60 overs down, 70 odd left for our chase. Do we go for it? Where do we draw the line for a genuine chase target if we get less than a day to do it I wonder.

A score of that total of course you go for it. You don’t go stupid but you bat sensibly with wickets in hand and see if can up the scoring with 10 overs to go to chase down 70 or 80. If you lose a few wickets you call it off and bat out the draw

If we can make 450-500 that'd be awesome.

I fear once we lose one of the 2 in now they'll fall like dominoes.

Being conservative and saying we'll be around 393 by the time we're out.

Anything more = yay
Anything less = boo

Then hopefully our bowlers are firing early

boo

but yay to our bowlers striking

I fear we will have an ugly chase and stuff it.

Told the missus this morning that it's imperative for us to get a Root tonight :).
And her response was you’ll be spending all day trying to bowl a maiden over and her favourite players are Andy and Grant (hint, hint)

Robinson better get docked his match fee for that. Piss poor form, flog

Without cheat spray the Aussie Quicks can be forgiven for bowling beamers at Pommy Slobbo and Broad. Tough with Broad tho as the coward takes block at Square Leg.

God damn this English team are arrogant without having any cause of being arrogant, I mean you lost to NZ I wouldn't be too cocky and you are shit creek here 2/35 we could get them out sub 250 we are right in the game

I heard about a bloke who wore his David Warner top to bed last night - she just looked at him and said, "You won't score tonight, wearing that."
