Woke up about 3amI stopped watching after uzzie out, but then kept checking score and couldn’t sleep, saw Cummins had teed off and begun watching again 37 to win.
Worth it, one of the greatest moments in Aussie cricket history.
Yea it did really. They had up to another 50 runs in them. They had plenty of time (like 4 full freaking days) to 'go for the win' without that needless stupidity.Did it really though? Was let down by dropped catches, sloppy fielding and a Broad wicket/no ball. I reckon he captained pretty well and went for the win, which should be commended and not criticised. Test crickets the winner!
Wonder if Stokes will have the balls to declare
Again considering he has no regrets
Media should rip him and Mcullum to pieces
They’ve all decided it’s sokkah seasonWhere are the England posters ?
Pat Cummins batting averages
First three innings: 14.78
Fourth innings: 38.40
The narrative has already been set - we wouldn't have even had a game without Stokesy's daring (idiotic) declaration.
I'm all for them continuing to buy into the hype.
These are the games that makes a leader seriously second guess themselves.
Over to you Stokes. We have a 1-0 lead and you have a 36 year old bowler and a 40 year old bowler with 5 Tests in 7 weeks.
Ah yeah no it’s not, ****ING WE ARE BAbY!!!Did it really though? Was let down by dropped catches, sloppy fielding and a Broad wicket/no ball. I reckon he captained pretty well and went for the win, which should be commended and not criticised. Test crickets the winner!
Stuart MacGill-styleHahaha SOK U/A for all r remaining tests due to "unsurprisingly im off to drink red wine in tuscony"
He laid the trap by pulling out with height to that field first innings (joking, but it seems that's how it went). The naive Stokes assumed both he and Cummins would do the same with less than 50 runs to win a crucial Ashes match. That's where naivety of one particular approach comes in to play.Fair play to Lyon. He kept coming back at the English batsmen even when they went for him. We've seen so many spinners go to pieces in similar situations.
Then to stand up like he did with the bat. He batted superbly for a tailender. I really wish the naysayers would finally tip their hat to this guy. He has been an unbelievable cricketer for Australia and having met him he's as down to earth as you'll find.
