Come on Windies put up a fight! Would love to see a lower order fightback to secure 150 odd to at least give our batters a chance to shit the bed :D

Bartlett's List A stats are remarkably average. Like him as a player, but he's a tad fortunate to get a gig.
Alot of players (newer faces) selected you do feel was on the backbone of strong T20 BBL form.

If I stand to be corrected: Hardie, Matt Short, Bartlett, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Lance Morris were all in the BBL Team of the tournament.

Weekday, poorly advertised game and a format that Australia don't get out for (average ODI crowd in Aus since 2016 is 20k) and people are shocked that there aren't many there?

  • cricket is finished in the minds of the average punter after Aust Day.
  • its not on FTA anymore, out of sight out of mind.
  • no one has given a flying ferk about ODI for over a decade.

If the Windies posted a decent score there was a chance of a decent rollup after people knock off from work given the glorious weather. Few blokes in my office in the CBD were debating going down there but unlikely to be much interest now.

Yeah its a shame we didn't elect to bat first - either we post a good total and you go to watch the new Aussie bowling attack, or we collapse and you go to see whether we can salvage it.

They've got to stop hyping Morris up as the next "Wild Thing". He doesn't bowl that fast.

Might be a good bowler but he's not express pace
Heard Haddin say on Willow Talk this past week that 145kph+ is where batsmen start feeling the genuine express pace and can get uncomfortable. Obviously other ways to cause trouble below that pace as guys like Hazlewood and Cummins show, but Morris isn’t near that class yet with his line and length and certainly isn’t bowling consistently above 145kph like a Starc or Joseph.

Alarm bells for mine .. low 140’s is barely a party trick at international level when you lack height, movement and great length. Early days though ..
I feel like he does bowl with a heavy ball and hits the bat harder than his pace would suggest, but yeah his pace isn't anything particularly special. He's a healthy fast/medium bowler, not a fast bowler.

This is the very worst of the format, s**t crowd, uncompetitive, s**t strike-rate, probably for the best it's not on FTA.
It’s also 4 years until the next WC, only the cricket tragics really care about series like this and it’s why FTA ain’t showing it. I’m watching to see the new blood and who impresses early in the WC cycle.

Do all Western Australians have the same inferiority complex 🤔
Do all Victorians have the same inability to detect sarcasm?

In all seriousness, though, Melburnians haven't shown up to ODIs for ages. It'd be worth giving places like Gold Coast or Geelong a go.
