Surely in a “great” era you actually win a series in England not just draw it. It’s been an okay era with some top line bowlers.
Part of a great era is holding the Ashes for 8 years, winning the 3 big major trophies, World Cup, World T20 and the World Test Championship. Obviously not great like the late 90s/2000s but like world champions in other sports, there's levels of great.

Had the Ashes since 2017, don't need to win away, draw does it when we smash them 4-0 here. India, we didn't do bad seeing they doctored every pitch, won in Pakistan, NZ, won the World Cup, World T20, World Test Championship. Even last year the Windies Test was the only one we lost then swept the series in NZ. Only disasters were last time in SA and sandpaper and throwing away a series at home against India through tactical ineptitude. Previous Indian tour here we were depleted.

Been an excellent era. If you don't think so, so be it. No one will lose any sleep over it.

‘doctored’ pitches are the only reason Australia even competed.
Australia drew in Sri Lanka.
Drew in England - against a side pilloried by the way as being something of a novelty.
Lost in India.
Drew at home to West Indies.
That has come after losing to India twice here as well.
Labelling the last couple of years as anything other than slightly better than average is a complete misrepresentation.

It’s a good era not a great one that’s the point. You can’t be flogged by India home and away, not beat England in England away and be called great. A drawn series isn’t a win whatever way you spin it

Are we almost worse at home vs India than England are vs us here? We laugh at the English for how they do here

It’s close but I’d almost say yes. Least Cooks team won here

Where on the wrong side of this.
But its beautiful test cricket by India.
India reluctantly have avoided playing red ball cricket.
Preferring the white ball +$$$ available .Recon they will fancy themselves in tests.

Pitch offering nothing. Ball doing nothing. Bowlers not bowling well.
Shit pitch makes for shit cricket. Over juiced for the first day and a half, absolute road thereafter, which even Starc and Hazlewood could last on.

I wish the media would pile on and talk about our team like that then. Hammer them and hopefully they fire up. Talking them up has made them think they’re invincible

Win a ODI WC and everyone thinks it’s great pity it has zilch to do with tests

It’s not a great test team: it never has been with this group. Different members of it have been. The team itself hasn’t.
