Let’s be realistic, you’d say that if it was bouncing around his ears off the popping crease. It’s the most overused adjective in cricket commentary.

It was a normal, regular day three pitch.

The ball spun for Lyon and gave him a lot of bounce, the pace bowlers had plenty of carry the whole way through though the sideways movement got less and less, there was some inconsistent bounce at times. The one thing he didn’t have to contend with was any swing.

All in all the biggest thing in his favour was the game situation which was set up perfectly for him, not the conditions, which were just normal for halfway through the third day of a test match.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I didn't mind Warner's stint in the comms during the middle session. Asked a few pertinent questions to Huss, made a couple of jokes that weren't just "hurr back in my day" like tubby and Waugh and the like can fall into..

As a NZer we love to hate Davey Dumb Dumb, but to be fair he's going ok as a commentator. He's better than Mark Waugh already.

Yeah there’s a reason why we have given green such a long apprenticeship. In the shield the good batsman are all batting 5 or lower to hide from the new ball.
