What's the potential of this guy? He looks like he plays in slow motion most of the time, similar to Pendlebury. Can't believe how easily he gets space and his kicking is very effective, it really seems like he has all the time in the world. Did he ever play like this in the SANFL? He genuinely makes good decisions and is pretty good with his hands, I don't understand how this guys just come out of no where and is playing like this currently lol.
it was more melbourne seemed to not go anywhere near him as they were too preoccupied with 'big names'. thommo shepherded 2 players at the centre bounce where he could run and kick a goal from 60. he wasnt even running fast like danger more jogging. also i dont think his skills are that great. looked dodgy when bouncing the ball and kicking BUT i think he can improve that a lot and is a great all round player!! fitness/speed could improve a little i reckon as well.

A couple of times today he took a short, ordinary option, when he could've run another 15 meters and then kicked it 50.

Get Smith to teach him that, then he will be a genuine threat.
Never seen hi hit a target 50m out besides that gaol today, only a few can hit a target like smith.

He's becoming a very handy player. Hope he can put together a whole season of this. He's looked very composed around the contest and he's a gifted athlete. Very handy.

What surprises me is the composure though. He's making it look easy right now.

I couldn't be more impressed with CEY so far this season. He knows his limitations, he isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and he's been a real asset to the side in each game. Has already moved well ahead of Lyons and Wright in the pecking order, and is still keeping Matt Crouch out of the team also. For a bloke who had played one quarter of AFL footy leading into 2015 (and had virtually nobody calling for him to play more), he's done an amazing job of establishing himself in what is one of the stronger midfields in the AFL.

Well done Cam. Keep it up.

His advantage over those you mention is CEY's big body, height, and his marking which we'll see more of as his confidence grows

I though there must have been a whistle, because no one came to him.

He looked like he was going slow so if there had been a free paid he didn't want to kick and give away a 50

He had VB asking for the ball but ignored him..nah I'm good..

Interesting Roo's commentary in the background on the Vince/Danger stuff.."yeah it's on..it's good!"

Anyone notice that kick for goal was in the square? He always looks so slow but no one ever catches him... anyone know how fast he really is?
One of the sack Chapman avatars got some draft tests from Knightmare and Cam was basically completely average in all the running tests.

Last year at the end of the season I was walking my dogs at Anstey Hill Park and I was aware of a guy burning up and down the hills. We got to the cars at the same time and I realised it was CEY.

It was after Sando's sacking and before PW's appointment. We had a quick chat about a few things like starting his preseason, the sacking, any idea of new coach and will Danger leave? (He said he didn't think so). I asked if he thought he would get a few games and he was hopeful but obviously dependent on the new coach. I told him I thought he deserved a chance which brought a smile and thank you. I'm so glad that the 'new coach' has indeed recognised that he does have something to offer.

Needs some polish, no doubt. I'm sure he'll improve on this. He'll never be a Smith with the boot, but quicker and better decision making will come with games like yesterday.

I've always seen him make the right decision with his hands in the center, he's very quick with getting the ball out, that's all we really need. He's a big bodied mid who's only going to get better, a 189cm mid is very handy. 4 Games people, 4 games, it just makes our midfield rotations so much better having someone like him in amongst it, he's smart too, seems to know where the ball goes etc.

Cam has physical gifts with his height and reach etc, and he has a pretty good football brain. The only thing that will stop his making it will be him. He is a confidence player and so can doubt himself sometimes. At this level if he doesnt give 100% every game, and improve every game he will get found out, get dropped and miss his opportunity.
Its not a slight on him at all. Basically Im saying the world is his oyster, and if he really wants it he will get it. If he doesnt he wont.
I really hope he does. I have enjoyed seeing how he has improved and I love hearing people who had no idea who he was suddenly asking who the hell is CEY and where were we hiding him.

Given his performances in the preseason Walshy had no choice but to play him, he's earnt it. Can't believe how well he's doing.

This is surreal to read, I recall his game v Freo last year and a number of us were saying he won't play again or he just doesn't have it. It's awesome to see him doing well and add some real depth to our midfield.

He has such a bizarre, languid technique but makes it all look so easy!

As much as I dislike the Crows reserves in the SANFL (from an SANFL viewpoint), you'd have to say a full season playing midfield with the ressies has held him in good stead for this season. First came of age at SANFL level half way through 2013 playing as a key defender, after looking lost as a midfielder at league level prior to that. Really looks like he belongs at AFL level, as a midfielder, now.

Would be worth the Crows keeping his defensive skills up their sleeve in case he is needed for a minding job on a big bodied mid or even needed to play on a Gunston type at some stage should the situation arise.

For now though, it is great to see him just playing see ball/get ball and adding important depth to the midfield.
