Ashley Browne:
Hi Tony. No.
I love the framing of that question. Would Richmond take. This ongoing Post gag has provided quite a few giggles over the recent journey.

UTG keeping true to his reputation with rubbish rumors.

Would rule out Post almost entirely now unless it's a player for player trade.

33 is clearly off limits.

Lets just stop here, we have traded in two bigger bodies for in and around the stoppages and now we can draft some pacey youngsters. Great job by Kerr and the team.

So does this spell the end of the Hudson era or the Cornelius era?

Huddo maybe, Cornelius though not setting the world on fire, did improve his fitness and workrate, I would keep him as he is still on the up.

What is the go with Niall, is it upgrade or bust?

Trading away our 3rd and 4th round picks makes me think that the Lions aren't intending on using a pick after our 2nd rounder.

6 Primary List delistings/retirements. Recruit Moloney and Martin. Four picks to go. Options:
  • 3 Draft picks (our 2nd rounder) and a rookie upgrade
  • 3 Draft picks, Huddo goes, 2 rookie upgrades
  • a trade to multiply our draft picks (eg. 8 for 12 + 14)
  • a trade with GC to prelist Boston, but I can't see this happening, because GC don't have anything to give back (eg. our end of first for an early 2nd - they don't have an early 2nd).

Huddo maybe, Cornelius though not setting the world on fire, did improve his fitness and workrate, I would keep him as he is still on the up.

Niall is contracted for 2013!

Our team is still quite workman like - i.e. lacking a bona fide number of superstars. However, what Sydney proved last season was that a workman like team, playing to a strong game-plan, can win premierships.

Hope we can pull off a 'sydney' in a couple of years.

Really looking forward to reading Kerr's writeup for another successful trade period.
I'm looking forward to it just so I can find out exactly what role they think Martin can play in our team... He's not a KPF, and we have enough rucks... I'm not bothered by the trade - we got him cheaply enough... just don't know why we wanted him.

Hudson has made a fantastic contribution for the year he was at our club, and I'd love to see him out there again next season, but sadly I think we need his spot more than we need another backup ruckman.

Plus I suspect if his position wasn't contingent on us getting another ruckman/ruck forward in the trade period I suspect he might have been signed up earlier.

Happy to have Martin onboard. He wanted to come to us, gives us flexible depth and can take a good grab. Great work by the club, we didn't need to do anything major this trade period, we've just given ourselves a bit of depth while we let the young guys keep coming through.

As much as I'm glad Brisbane didn't pay overs for Martin, this pretty much guarentees Spencer White will not go to Brisbane. Player with huge potential as a key forward and he goes to my school so would have loved him to pull on the shirt. Just can't see Lions taking him with any of the first 3 picks as he's still very a huge roughie.

But welcome Stefan! Very nice 2011 and could become just as useful as a Dawes/Clark (hopefully)

If we have Martin and I feel bad for thinking this but I would like Hudson to be retired.

It's pretty obvious we want to use all three of our top picks in the draft (8, 24 & 33), so one of Huddo, Cornelius or Bartlett will likely not get a contract next year.

Tough choice. But Martin for picks 53/73 is a good get - we wouldn't have used those picks anyway.

Niall is contracted for 2013!

That seems to conclude our list changes then:
IN: Moloney, Martin, McKeever (rookie promotion), Pick 8, Pick 24, Pick 33 = 6
OUT: Buchanan, Drummond, Stiller, Hawksley, Sheldon, Retzlaff = 6

We could hold onto Hudson for another year, or promote another rookie in his place. I see benefit in having a strong ruck in our NEAFL team, assuming Leuenberger and Martin will play more seniors football. Allows Longer to develop at his own pace, and spend more time up forward.
