The importance of having mid/fwds is going to rise dramatically in the near future imo...
are we even sure he will be that, i see him being a soft half back just going off what i have seen, a player who plas like jack watts minus the kicking + elite atheltism

I think Membrey has been doing a little "Training" since he found out he was coming to St kilda, Dream come true I heard.

Well Steven was done for drink-driving last year. Wether Websters incident was caught on camera or not is irrelevant. He went out, got drunk and punched someone hence why he was suspended by the club. Fair enough saying you dont want "these types" at the club, but people make mistakes, especially young men. You have to give people the opportunity to mature & learn from those mistakes.
Also, I was out one night, me and a mate getting cash from an ATM when Lenny & goose came up to us. Both ******ed drunk, lenny pushed us out of the way and pissed all over the ATM. If it went public should've we got rid of him? I think not. (and yes i kept & framed the money)

Pissing in public is not assault, and I disagree about the video footage aspect. Provides clear proof. No footage of Webster has surfaced to accurately know what happened.

Originally I was a bit disappointed in the draft, especially seeing that we had pick #1. But after taking a good hard look at us, I thought...well we are building a team for the future, so the Pelican & his crew will more than likely throw us up something juicy in the draft. Then next year when a few of the boys from GWS want to return home (ok, I've only got eyes for Cameron :$ ) we can swoop, that thrown in with our high picks of 2015, will have us more than ready for a tilt at the big one around the 2018, '19 mark. :thumbsu:

I always try not to get caught up in the draft until I know who we have. I don't like desperately wanting one player over another - Why get disappointed about prospects when I can settle for the reality?

BUT all this Petracca stuff has finally got to me. The idea of him is so appealing.

Rahul or anyone else, does he have real depth to his kicking? I haven't seen anything of the top few picks aside from their highlights tapes. Completely inaccurate I know. I'd say Petracca perhaps rushes the kick, especially clearances (based on 5 mins of footage, I know). This isn't necessarily a problem if he has the real penetration (the extra 5M). Explosive players are most useful if they can get that extra distance on the rushed kick the way the game is played now, just managing to get it over the easy turnover setup.

The idea of a Billings/Petracca half forward/mid rotation (building as mids the older they get) is just so appealing. Dunstan also a goal kicking mid and future accumulator. It starts to to take shape.

AFL website reporting we made a late play for Sam Frost today.

So obviously after another KPD.
I heard Bains say after the 2pm deadline that we made some initial enquiries about Frost. Could of traded a late pick for Membrey and then would of taken Frost in PSD. That was all on the proviso that the Dees didn't get him in the draft. We all know they torched 23 for him now, so it is no wonder we didnt want to trade for him

He absolutely thumps them, can kick up to 60m+ with the wind, which is why his kicking has been kind of masked at the U18 level. He isn't a very accurate kick but he can completely roost his kicks.

Can someone please tell me,

how many spots we have available? will we be upgrading only 3 rookies even though Weller has a 2 year contract?
And will sipposs & Schneider be delisted to make way for4 draft picks?

Informed judges believe they offered pick 12 for David Armitage
This was from that same article, just on Richmond's report card.

so the club suspended him on what basis then? thats a ridiculous argument saying that just because it didn't happen on camera its not substantial enought. Seems like you have very different standards for different people.

I don't actually know but working from info we have I would say
Out 8
Hayes, Maister, jones, Gwilt, Dunnel, TDL, Stanley, Milera
In 4
Minch, Templeton, Shenton, Membrey.

I imagine they'll keep Weller on the rookie list if Schneider is given another year. If not he'll get promoted in his place.

That leaves 1. 21. 22. 41 & 3 rookies (1 likely being saad)

Oh well, it appears the club didn't die wondering...

It takes 2 to tango and I (and others) have said all along that it all boils down to how much GWS wanted Petracca.

If we traded 1 for 2 &3, then I would have been happy, but 1 for 4 & 6 is crap and we did well to knock it back.

From day 1, the club has stated that we will consider trading pick 1 but it has to be an offer to good to refuse. Obviously any offers were inadequate given the options for pick 1 in the draft.

So whilst some may see this as weak, I reckon we did what we could, given the cards we were dealt.

The reality is that apart from pick 1, we really had nothing of value to offer. To get more picks, we would have had to trade out quality players, of which we have too few.

As far as next year goes, I still believe that Ace up our sleeve is a surplus ruck. The competition between Hickey and Longer will only make them better and with Pierce / Homes, I can see us offloading 1 of them for a top pick.

There will also be a few kids who will get better and will hold some currency - subject to what is available and if we can replace them with someone better.

This is a long game, and despite all of us wanted to see a massive win this week, we are still on track over the long term. So no need to panic.

With a bit of luck, Membrey comes good Bruce develops up forward.
