On a draftee note, if we have a few picks not assigned to rookie upgrades after around pick 30 odd I would be happy to get Viojo-Rainbow who apparently is a REALLY good kick and Nakia Cockatoo who dominated the pregame today. Also, getting them would mean we have the craziest names on our list of any club. Nokia Cockatoo? REALLY? Viojo-Rainbow?!

Geez, you guys are really clinging onto this Shiel + 4 idea :p

Can you blame us?! An awesome goal kicking mid still getting better and a 3 pick downgrade?! Yes pls. But it's probably a pipe dream.

Hannebery and Mitchell or no deal.

:D

**** if that happened our midfield would suddenly start looking good..

C: Newnes, Mitchell, Dunstan
R: Hickey, Hannebery, Steven

+ others.

Ok...............

Mitchell staying at Sydney. Been quoted as saying he needs to put full weeks on the track and push his way in. His name need not be spoken anymore.

I do have doubts they'll trade Mitchell but McEvoy would've also said he wasn't going anywhere..

If a deal comes up then i'm sure they would be willing to trade Mitchell and he would agree to the trade.

Fair point re: surprise moves, but some pretty significant differences with those comparisons.

McEvoy's destination: reigning premiers. Mitchell's destination: reigning spooners.
McEvoy's move: 30 or 40 km's closer into Melbourne or another hour drive. Mitchell's move: Interstate several hundred kilometres.

Obviously we'd be offering more cash though, bottom of the rung team can afford to lure in some big fish, premiership contenders can not.

And Giovanni Mountain-Silberry.

The only way I see us trading Armo, is for a similar deal as we did with Macca: to top up a top-team to help with their finals tilt, and they give us their first and a good fringe (like Savage). The problem with that, is that I don't see Hawks, Sydney, Cats, Freo, or Port really needing a player like Armo.

Good points..

But here he would also be guaranteed game time though i'm not sure he is yet at Sydney.. They have Isaac Heeney coming straight in as well who looks AFL ready and will be going for the similar spot to Mitchell. I reckon if the trade was proposed to Tom he would be willing to move especially if another Sydney player like Hannebery was involved in the deal.

Just because you're bottom of the ladder it doesn't mean you can't attract players look at us in 2000 as an example.

He's a much less likely prospect though isn't he? Also he isn't listed on our website under our rookies, what's up with that?
He's not a rookie yet, he's an international scholarship. He's got another year in that program, then we'll take him as an international rookie. Joe Baker-Thomas will come on to our list as an international rookie next year, after his time on the scholarship program.

Geelong and Richmond would be interested in Armitage along with Gold Coast.

Geez some of you want to give away #1 for not much.

Have said all along, if we are to trade it, the trade wont be fair.

It will have to heavily favour us. Hanneberry for #1 is not enough. + Mitchell maybe.

If we trade we need to get two quality players.

Sheil + #4 meaning McCartin or Wright would be accurate.

Worst case scenario is we get Petracca.

Oh and Red looked like a poor mans Liam Jones today - spud

Hannebury may be 23 but his shoulders are a worry surely. Giving up a top pick for someone with a history. That's a big gamble.

So we all agree? A trade of pick 1 must spread our bets? A very good player and a high pick back to us? Or 2 slightly lower picks? Ok good, close the thread I think we're all done here

How about instead of trading for a player that is "like" Armitage, how about we just keep our Armitage which is free and get a Petracca that we don't have.
We don't need pick upgrades if the reported depth of this draft is true. Remember Luke Parker was pick 40 and Priddis was a rookie. We need to develop now and spend later.

For every Parker and Priddis there are a lot more players taken at similar picks that don't make it. The club has said we want an extra pick inside 21 so they clearly think that we do need pick upgrades and that relying on late picks wont be enough to rebuild the list.
