well I'm a 20y interstate member who coughed a bit more (double) this year to get Silver, so cat2. My silly mate forgot to upgrade his, which I only just found out when getting his barcode for tomorrows ballot.

So will I get carded for asking for a second barcode from any Silver members who would not be going, for one reason or another?
You need to understand that if someone gives you a Silver bar code so your mate can go, then that means some other random Silver member who actually paid for their membership will miss out. It's bad form to be asking for it.

As a full AFL member I've never had to go through this registration

A couple of friends who would be priority 3 just asked me whether they should bother registering... did any Priority 3 members get any tickets last year?

Just putting it out there nice and early once again. Should we make it, I'll be wanting to swap whatever tickets my brother and I get for standing room tickets + the difference. We're both priority 1 so we'll get whatever we're given, but we prefer to stand so in the last two years we've done the swap with someone who wants to spend a bit more for seats.

Cheers,
Nick

I seem to recall some did last year actually but you could find out for sure by having a look for last years thread.

Assuming Sydney wins their preliminary final, based on 2012 when there were plenty of tickets left over after the initial club allocations, I'd encourage your friends to register. Back in 2008, my brother-in-law and I were both priority 3 membership holders. My brother-in-law won the lottery and got himself a standing room ticket, whereas I missed out and ended up buying a grand final ticket through (shudder) the Essendon Football Club.

It's a rip-off having to pay $5.50 for the privilege of registering (it's gone up 50c from last year, I noticed), but you got to be in it to win it.

No priority 3 members got tickets last year. Some did in 2008 and 2012.
It is still worth registering though, you don't know how it's going to pan out this year.

Sydney had their registration day yesterday and after Priority 1 and 2 went thru, all Priority 3 members were advised that they could no longer choose the 'No standing room' option. This would suggest that the quota was pretty much exhausted already and there was only standing room left or at best absolute minimal seats.

Strangely enough, the registration rip-off cost us $7.00 in 2012 and 2013, but this year dropped to $5.00. They seriously must just make the numbers up as they go along??

Coming from a priority 3 member (AFL Member with Hawks Club Support)

2008 - Missed out in ballot (Bought an AFL member ticket from a friend)
2012 - Got standing room in the ballot
2013 - Missed out in ballot (Limited Restricted view AFL member seats were still available for Silver AFL members which I snapped up)

For the Hawks sake I hope you miss out in the ballot again :)

I have one spare Silver junior membership (under 15) bar-code available that's not in use which falls under Priority 2. If anybody needs it let me know.
And stop a priority 3 from having a chance. If you're not going to use your barcodes, leave the spot for legitimate members in lower categories !
