Round 1 next year:

FB: Luke McDonald, Joel Tippett, Lachie Hansen
HB: Scott Thompson, Nathan Grima, Sam Wright
C: Shaun Atley, Ben Cunnington, Daniel Wells
HF: Brent Harvey, Jarrad Waite, Jack Ziebell
FF: Lindsay Thomas, Drew Petrie, Ben Brown
R: Todd Goldstein, Andrew Swallow, Levi Greenwood
I/C: Nick Dal Santo, Shaun Higgins, Jamie Macmillan, Sam Gibson

Players missing out include Aaron Black, Ryan Bastinac, Ben Jacobs, Michael Firrito, Leigh Adams, Trent Dumont, Mason Wood, Taylor Garner, Aaron Mullett and Kayne Turner. And who knows what else we'll do during the trade period.

Wow. This team is ready.
That's a scary forward line.

That's a great point that I haven't considered enough. Not losing draft picks via trades is crucial for sustained success.

When you say 'go away for 2/3 years' do you mean just outside the 8 or bottom 4?
There is absolutely no need to "go away for 3 years". Well managed clubs just don't do it. It's not like we have given picks away. We are still going to draft what we think are best possible kids at our picks. All we have done is made 5-6 changes to the list this season, but instead of bringing all kids in, we'll bring 2-3 ready made players in, and 3-4 kids in. Perfect strategy.

That's a scary forward line.
I even think we could potentially play all of Black, Waite, Brown and Petrie in one side in some games, especially at the G. If Black is back to his best, he offers so much more around the ground.

Harpers ? Is also form and performance. And role. Pretty much everything I'd imagine. He has a lot of work to do.

I can't see us fall into the abyss. As people noted McDonald, Turner, Ziebell etc will be dominating, I reckon mid table, perhaps like the Hawks did 09 - 10. Replacing Petrie/Wells/Harvey right away won't happen over night, but I back our recruiting to have players ready to step in. Willing to give them time to step up instead of flag NOAW.

Hmm the Brown vs Black discussion is going to be interesting next year.
I'd go Black. With Waite in there he brings a much better contested marking threat, plus forward pressure, meaning that Brown would be playing third tall. I would rather that be a mobile type and that is Black. I also think we might find his output will be better next season after his shoulder has healed up. Give Ben a full preseason and the opportunity to work on his ruck game in the twos and watch out 2016.

Interesting that we have targeted Waite, when our forward line functioned very well this year. Expected organic growth in the midfield?

Black was a third tall all last season and didn't perform. He needs to pick up his game majorly. Or maybe we adjust his role slightly, and give more onus on Zeibs, Cunners and Sugar to kick more goals.

Actually if we were to offload Fishy and Tarrant I wouldn't be mad now. We're not going to get the world in return, I would rather let Bryce work his magic on draft day with a (I pray) third rounder for Taz and whatever we get for Fish. Keep finding those bargains.

Keep fish. Coming off no pre-season where his ankle injury didn't allow him to use his speed.

He'll be right next year.

It's called a list management team for a reason. I'm sure they don't sign players and then go "oh shit, we forgot to leave money for Levi" or "shit, we just signed a forward without considering where he'll play".

We will have planned 2-3 years ahead at all times, with contracts and team balance. All clubs do except Melbourne and St Kilda

So if and when Greenwood goes to Richmond or the Bulldogs I will love to hear your reasoning to the list management.

It functioned well for the last 5 weeks of the season.

Prior to that it was an absolute shambles.

Ziebell, Brown and Turner fixed it.

Geez, fair bit of competition for spots building. Especially with Dumont and Wood likely to really push next year, and a fit Garner hopefully.
Of course, unlikely you ever get full best 22 on ground during season...but here goes...

FB: Hansen Thompson McMillan
HB: Atley Grima McDonald
C: DalSanto Cunnington Wells
HF: Black Waite Turner
FF: Thomas Petrie Ziebell
R: Goldstein, Swallow, Greenwood
IC: Wright, Brown, Harvey, Higgins (assuming we get him)

Next in line: Gibson (deadset stiff if it happens), Bastinac, Mullett, Wood, Delaney (for Grima), Garner, Dumont, Tippett, McKenzie.

Major question marks: Tarrant, Harper, Grima (all fitness related), Adams

Regardless of the 22 it looks like North will field teams that have an average of 130-140 games per player next year.

I even think we could potentially play all of Black, Waite, Brown and Petrie in one side in some games, especially at the G. If Black is back to his best, he offers so much more around the ground.
And Ziebell, Thomas and Turner playing down there, agility, strength and height.

Top 4 next year maybe g.f.. If we get a hard draw we probably wont make the eight...

Fantasist! So we now stymie the development of Black & Wood by picking up a 32yo, wow, magic great stuff North................not!

Who cares what best 22 looks on paper, it's what best 22 to 30 looks like. There will be injuries suspensions and poor form. Finally there is no excuses for the match committee.

Just Draft pace to be ready in time for boomer replacement.
