I just hope come the start of the trade window, we have an idea on what is happening with Ryder. If we are trading, or if he is just walking, if we are still interested etc, etc. Would be good to at least walk into trade period having half of an idea what we are doing.

I'd hope we know well before that. If a bid for an academy player came before our second pick it could be very interesting to see what we do

The fact Ryder hasn't commented at all makes me think he wants out.
Wether that ends up being Brissy, Suns, Swans or GWS remains to be seen

I wasn't serious....

Just want to say that i saw what you did and in my opinion, for what it's worth, is that you have worked somewhat to improving your posting over the last little bit but it has gone unnoticed fairly or not due to peoples pre-concieved opinion of you, still keep up the good work

mmm he would be cheap i guess they might throw him in for free with ryder and dempsey !! ha love a good garage sale

Ryder, Dempsey, Hardingham & Jetta for 2nd & 3rd round picks????? Our reserves side would benefit greatly! You can hear Tim Shaw saying, "BUT wait, there's more".

Clark's not going to Freo

INFLUENTIAL AFL player agent Colin Young has launched a stinging attack in response to Fremantle coach Ross Lyon’s comments today regarding Melbourne forward Mitch Clark. Young angrily revealed that Fremantle could have traded his client to the Dockers when he left Brisbane back in 2011, but claimed Dockers recruiting management stalled at giving up their first draft pick at number 16.

The entire AFL industry knows that Fremantle made a massive error in how they handled that possible trade, as it should have been done in the first two days of trade week. “The trade was a no brainer and Fremantle messed up what really was impossible to do. Ross should check with his CEO and find out what really transpired that week. I’m still shocked that no one has been made accountable for the trade of a lifetime gone wrong.

Deserves them right, trying to screw us over.

This is a good point. Mah bahd in this case.

Trade period is just so freaking hilarious:

- A whole bunch of infrequent posters come out of the woodwork and angrily post in definitives
- A whole bunch of new posters all come in and post in definitives, often angrily
- Our less informed regulars post in a manner unbecoming of them, often in the style of a mid to early teen and, you guessed it, definitively and angrily
- The conversation goes around in circles like so many spirally circlely spirals.

Chill out you silly-billys.

If that doesn't make you feel welcome than nothing will

I think Fremantle have been recovering from their disastrous trading campaigns of years gone by and were reluctant to give a decent trade given the circumstances. In hindsight it is easy to say Fremantle got it all wrong but remember they were set for rucks and Clark was still an unknown forward quality. That scenario is almost playing out before us as Lions with Ryder apparently wanting to come here. If he did not have the ASADA cloud over his head I don't think we would be offering pick 4 for him considering we are set for rucks and Ryder is still inconsistent as a forward. But as we all know he can activate a clause and can come to us for free which we will gladly accept as players of his talent don't come around often as freebies.

Forgive my naivety, but what clause?

Something along the lines of a contract breach on Essendon's part that endangered Ryder's welfare. The players association pushed hard for this to come into play when the Essendon PED scandal arose and the AFL? obliged. I believe that is the gist of it anyway.

Picking up on a crisp comment in the draft thread...

Crisp is an interesting one given everyone else has signed up and he is the last standout. I think his size and pace were massive standouts in the last 4-6 weeks (along with a goal a game).

He's 21, was a pick 40 in rookie draft in 2011, and has 'only' 18 games of exposed form over 3 years.

Only hi king about this on the basis he hasn't resigned must mean he's at least willing to look at what else is out there for him. May see limited opportunities when rich/redden are back and with cutler/Robbo to play more (and beams talk)

What's he worth? Maybe a late 2nd round pick given what we got for the gh5. (Mainly based on the low pick he was and therefore clubs recalling some reason they didn't pick him in the first place)

So doubled up with pick 4 I don't think that moves us up the draft order.
The saints and Melbourne would be a perfect home for him given their midfield issues but I don't see him + 4 being enough to get us to pick 1/2 off either of them, or them trading us their 2nd rounder for him at pick 20ish, while pick 40ish (their third) being too low for us.

Dogs and kangaroos could both use some extra outside run (especially with dogs. Likely to lose Higgins), maybe we could get their 2nd rounder giving us some extra leverage in other deals.

Carlton maybe?

Any of those 3 would be potentially pick 25-32 out to 38/39 for saints/dees third pick.

(Btw sorry that I tend to post long - I like to reason things out in my own mind and this translates to the post!)

I believe there was talk on Adelaide radio of burger to port Adelaide. surely would only happen if Ryder was heading your way.

you'd think if there is a clause in his contract, then he would use it to force a trade, not just leave like a dog
