In Mitchell's press conference he mentioned that Andres Russell has trained Hawthorn for Hot games in the steam room. So the weather favourkng West Coast definitely isn't an issue anymore (even though it probably wasn't)

From the prelim it would seem a substantiated opinion when one looks at the Ballantyne decision that umpires have been instructed to assert control early on the game. Hopefully this applies to the GF too.

Attack the ball, not the man and not only should we win the ball and hopefully use it well, but we should receive a little more rub of the green our way too.

Plus if you attack the ball harder than the opposition and you don't gather it, you're likely to hit your opponent harder too.

First to the ball Hawks. Don't worry about getting sucked in to any niggles.

Need to play with the same initial aggression and intensity that they did last year, set the tone early.
I dont think west coast have any players that will niggle the way Ballantyne does

Last year I thought we were pretty focused on the ball the first 10 minutes or so. It was after that that we focused on hannering Hannebery. Start with focus, avoid giving away silly early frees, then hit them just as they feel they might be settling into the game.

Thank the powers that be that the pontificating twerp known as Razor Ray isn't getting a gig although he is named as a emergency so here's hoping none of the named umpires blow out a lung in whistle practice. The weather is a uncontrollable variable and being Melbourne it's guaranteed to be somewhere between -10 to 45 degrees with the possible chance of sunny hail and random worm holes with some light volcanic activity later in the afternoon. We have the best most experienced cattle and coach and will not be denied. ray2.jpg

Gaff looks like the kind of bloke that could get very sore very quickly...

I heard Roughy on Gameday (I think.) They were asking Roughy about Roughead Street in Leongatha and how the signs go missing a lot. Roughy was a bit cut up that they were accusing the Rougheads of souveniring them. It was pretty funny. I got online and called up openstreetmap and discovered that Roughead Street was missing. (Wrongly named). I fixed it up. All good now.

Let's not forget our 30 degree day is nothing compared to a 30 degree day in Perth.
So this will make no difference at to to our boys and it's more likely to reach 26 knowing our weather here in Melbourne...
Hopefully it will peak slowly and then drop away fairly quickly. Usually how it goes in Spring.

Don't give a f*k wot the campaigners whinge about .. it was clear for BEFORE the bounce all that little campaigner was gonna do was niggle and get into his opponents so fair frickin enough he was called for the smallest incident off the ball.
That sh1t should be paid more often and just maybe the best players in the game can go about their business and we wouldn't spend a week talking about whether a sh1t campainer of a player will take the field or not

Been reading up on his this "Web" works - seems to be that they set up to stop short kicks specifically and force the long kick to the line, with as many players within 60 metres of the ball carrier as possible.

The obvious solution seems to be to run through it - if you can get 15 metres in front of where the ball was quickly then you are out the back. Does that make sense?

Would not surprise me to see us handball and run on at all times early on next week to confuse the Eagles.

or just switch it quick to the fat side.

Yeah that's the other thing, set up for a mark at left half back say and then have Gibbo steam past for a release kick out to the right wing. You can do that at the G with the extra space while you can't at Subiaco.

After annoying the crap out of everyone in quarter two, the shadow of the northern stand will cover most if the ground in the second half (if sunny that is)

Hodge failed to train today any worry?
More precautionary I would say (hope). He played the game out Friday night so it can't be too bad.
As Roddy implied - Hodgey will play in this GF no matter what.
