Watching the afl round table and listening to them discuss the spread of players over 18 teams I was curious to know what we would have looked like without GC and GWS in the competition.

Woudn't have mattered if they were around or not with Hughes calling the shots. We'd have balls the picks regardless.

Crucify me for this please.
But on the strength of today's game, and generally, GC Bennell *on field* is the player we always hoped Yarran would become, particularly now that it looks like Yarran is not as quick as he once was. Is he worth the trouble?

In my opinion Yarrans talents have been wasted playing hbf, yes his speed and ball use are elite at times but he is a natural goal kicker and if he was played forward for an extended period of time (at Carlton or another team), I have no doubt he would be one of the better small forwards in the comp.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-08-02/barker-laments-a-handful-of-blues-going-through-the-motions

"I'm always happy with Matthew Kreuzer, because he doesn't pick and choose – he's unconditional," Barker said. :D:D:D
"Todd Goldstein is a great ruckman and is obviously a bit taller than Matty. He probably has a few physical capabilities that shade him (Kreuzer) a little bit, but Matthew Kreuzer has a massive ticker.

"He's a Carlton man.":D:D:D
Heart & Soul. If only Humphrey could give a spray!!!!!!!!!!! He's one bloke I would be happy to chuck a tantrum aimed at anyone and everyone. Team mates, umpires etc.
I reckon a pre-game rev-up from him and B.Doull would be titillating.

Surely with both West Coast and Freo competing we can get their first pick for yarran is a weak draft.

He looks gone imo

Anyone else hate this "priority pick at the AFLs discretion" rule?

Its just not clear and reeks of potentials unfairness.

Why not just keep it simple. If you win 4 or less games you get a pick after the first round.

Not really worth tanking for and gives a boost to the truly awful sides.

And IF the club is wise enough, ability to trade for the right deal. This may go against CFC, we aint wise.

Hendo to Geelong for 10
Yaz to WCE/FRE for 16/17 (talk of crows being into him aswell)

So that leaves us with 2/3, 10, 17, 22ish in the second round.

Greg Swan (remember him) was on SEN and basically said if we can't get what we want for Aish we will let him walk as a matter of principle.

Now if we are "in the box seat" for him then doesn't that just suit us even better ??

Perhaps he is going home after all.

Honestly if we can get 4 picks inside 25 then we must hit the draft and hope we can snag a big fish via the PSD

Or we give GWS 17 and our first rounder next year for Trelor??

If Aish goes into the PSD, there's no guarantee we will get him unless gold coast leap frog us.

I am assuming Brissy won't or can't select him again with pick 1 in the PSD, even if it would be hilarious lol

We don't deserve a Priority Pick based on a decade of piss poor recruiting decisions and awful player development.

A PP just hurts other rebuilding clubs and makes us look like a club constantly asking out for handouts.

If Melbourne couldn't get one last year, we sure as hell won't this year.

The beef I have with Priority Picks is that it penalizes all the other clubs for mismanagement and incompetence of lowly clubs receiving. The Scraggers didn't get a priority pick these past 5 years they've been down and now they are a dynamic team pushing for top 4.

Nope, its up to us to get our way out of this mess without charity or handouts, we want another top 4 pick, we let Kruezer go as a free agent.

Gold Coast will beat Brisbane next week and leap frog us.
Bottom spot will be decided when we play Brisbane the week after.

You said it again.

Rumour is that he's going to one of the SA clubs.
Involved in some part of geeting Dangerfield & Hendo to Geelong scenerio?? If we lost Yaz & Hendo in this trade we'd be wanting some kinda compensation. Maybe we get Betts and Sauce back. Now that Juddys gone, WC might give us JK for Liam Jones. Flogpies take back Daisy and give us their 2nd pick and a defensive KPP. Warnock flies back to Freo with our 2nd rounder from Flogpies and we get Fyfe.
In: Fyfe, JK, Betts, Sauce- either Schache or Weitering, Silvagni & Rice
Out: Hendo, Yaz, Jones, Thomas, Warnock

This Trade/list manager schizen is easy................where do I sign. What they paying SOS? Give me half, a hot dog & a lazy half dozen beers at each game and each week 3 members of the Carlton BF board to come enjoy the beers and hot dog with me on a rotating roster;););););)

Playing with the predictor, I reckon it will come down to percentage for bottom spot if we beat Brisbane. Bottom three still way up in the air.

Exciting stuff!!!

Who cares if we hurt other clubs?

Look we won a final only 2years ago, the AFL commission takes into account the period of time a club has been in the lower rungs of the ladder. Now considering that Melbourne (up until this season) had been constantly awful for 8 years and didn't get a PP last year, there is no way in hell the Commission can justify giving us one. And nor should Brisbane get one either.

Now, being unpopular here, if we let Kruezer go to another club as a Free Agent, I would be very confident we would get a top 5 pick as compo.

Does this club and SOS and McKay have the stones to make the right call for the long term benefit of the club and let MK go.

I love Kruezer as much as the next person, but logic suggests he won't be a part of our next premiership team, and his history of chronic injuries would make it a big risk to re-sign him (on the money his management is reportedly fielding from other clubs)

We have to start making tough/unpopular calls. Our premiership window is so far away that I honestly feel we can afford to let Kruezer go, especially if it means cashing in on band 1 compo.

St Kilda made tough calls letting Goddard and Dal Santo go, and (today aside) are finally starting to see the dividends on their hard decision to let popular club champions go.

That's not what I asked. Why would the welfare of other clubs come into Carlton's consideration when asking for a pp?

Okay I misread your post, my mistake.

They should just get rid of the PP altogether really, and perhaps make the Free Agency compo more generous for bottom 4 clubs. Get the impression Essendon will finish in the bottom two next year (esp if they lose Carlisle as expected) and I bet they'll ask for one.
