Question then. Which first rounder do we keep if we want to trade one out ... Geelong's or Richmond's. Who will finish lower next year?

That or trade them both out, get Tomlinson, Plowman, Sumner etc...but swap picks 20 and 21 for pick 8. We have picks 1, & 8 to use in the draft, Picks 59 & 60 for SOSOS plus the raft of GWS players.

GWS won't need the points. 8 will be a live pick for them. Hopper will be covered by 7, 8 live and then they will cover Kennedy with the pick we give them for Plowman and co, and their own 27.

Trading apparently going through now...
Not sure who wins here.........It's an odd one.......Melbourne, I think.

Port
Gain Toumpas and pick 32
Lose 29, 50 & 68

Melb
Gain Kennedy 29 & 50
Lose Toumpas & Howe

Coll
Gain Howe & 68
Lose Kennedy and Seedsman

Crows
Gain Seedsman
Lose Pick 32
Jeez, Pies a little bent over there.

Port winners. Crows even. Collingwood lose...yeah! and Melbourne - well it's official, they are worse than us at this!

i like it!

i think the jaksch deal could have been a win, if we drafted differently.

if it ended up:

jaksch whiley and laverde/hugh goddard everyone would be saying we won. Boekhorst likely would have been available at 28

ah well
Yes, very much this. That trade would have looked so much better if we went the above scenario.

While we all think no clubs will bid on Jack, at least not high, reality is it is still possible a club will bid on him especially given it is a shallow draft, so, I'd be staggered if Carlton didn't retain one of 20 or 21 in case we need to use it to secure Jack. Another club could do it to keep us honest.

But that shouldn't be a problem assuming Richmond get their shit together and we get a decent pick for Yarran. Then we still have three other decent picks to leverage in any trade.

Given Brisbane's firm stance now that Aish will only be traded for a 1st rounder & Collingwood committing both theirs to the Treloar deal I'm thinking it's starting to become more likely Aish ends up in the PSD.

Loving the standoff that will likely see one of Aish or Carlisle go into the draft.
And we can cross off another day that the Treloar deal hasn't been done as well.

i think we are doing well so far. picks 1, 20, 21, 59, 60, 77 plus first rounder 2016
will get plowman sumner lamb & phillips & possibly kerridge.
draft weitering & SOSOS plus 4-5 more kids
still to organise yarran pick which may be 12 & 30 for yarran & 21. 30 for the gws players.
could next years henderson pick get us tomlinson or swap for gws 2nd & 3rd this year as they have to trim list?
and hopefully SOS has one or two more surprise deals to sneak through and a gun through psd.

Why the hell would we do that?

Forget pick #8 this year, I'd definitely rather hang onto the first rounders for next year's draft. If we end up with 3, we can pick up 3 gun midfielders to go with Cripps, we could turn our fortunes around in one draft.

I'd prefer if we got pick #12 for Yarran and offered #20 + #21 for Tomlinson and co.

Yes ! Do that ! ... 5 quality young kids plus pick 1 and 8... We'd be the biggest winners of the draft period... Do it!

just reading some of the phantom drafts. at the end of the trade & draft period we could end up with plowman sumner phillips lamb kerridge weitering curnow collins mckay sosos rioli and maybe 1 or 2 more and an extra first ropund pick next year. that's around 12 new players. big effort. add these guys to cripps graham buckley docherty boekhurst byrne and we have some good young talent. good start to a rebuild i reckon

I would say Port. I still think that Toumpas will be a good player and they have effectively got him for a 3 spot downgrade and some nothing picks in a supposedly shallow draft.

Toumpas seems broken to me. Watched him play VFL and I couldn't help seeing Kane Lucas in him.....I hope that changes though.

Kennedy should be a good player at Melbourne but because Collingwood seem to have let him go cheap.......there may be something there.

Not sure who wins it either. But Melbourne originaly invested pick 4 in Toumpas and could have got pick 6 for Howe if they traded him this time last year.
I'd say the Pies win as they only lose two players that were not in there best 22, for one player who most likely will be.
Crows look like they are trying to bring in some run, with Seedsman and Hampton.

Collingwood lose big as well, Howe isn't that good and they haven't got anything to trade for Aish now.

Pies have their second rounder and the second rounder they will probably get for Freeman.

However if the Saints have to spend their second rounder to get Carlisle done, then they miss Freeman, Pies miss Aish and the PSD probably has some choices in it.

I have! I reckon he's more a liability than an asset. When he doesn't have the ball, he goes missing. Compared to the Hawks small/medium forwards he has no defensive presence which is tantamount to success in modern footy. I'd trade him now while his currency is up if a good deal came up. Adelaide were reputedly interested late in the season. If they were happy to pony up Lever and maybe a pick upgrade I'd take that.

I'd also trade the 1 pick if it gave us two or more good rebuild assets. Think Weitering will be a very good player, but reckon we could drag something special out of someone for the privilege. Interest in the top pick is as always healthy. Bulldogs reputedly keen. Something around Boyd, Hrovat, Talia and a pick upgrade could be orchestrated I believe. May cost Cas too, but he would be replaced by Boyd. 11 (upgraded from 20) could get us Weidemann or Collins or a solid ruck or runner. Talia will be close to the quality of his brother. Hrovat is a very good small. Boyd is elite, just taking time, as most bigs do, to develop. Why do Bulldogs do it. All three players they are trading are supplemental to their side that finished strong. The two coming in fill the two main holes. The pick downgrade would be less significant after getting Weitering. Ridding themselves of Boyds salary would be helpful to a team that struggles to attract crowds and create revenue. Dream maybe, but if that's the price for the 1 pick, I'd bite hard.

Agree on Menz, not on pick 1. Just doesn't feel right unless Dogs cover a chunk of Boyd's contract.

Well thought out though.
