Our starting 22 in 4 years looks pretty strong!

assuming we get rid of Yarran - does not include who we draft with his pick
assuming we get rid of Hendo - does not include who we draft with his pick
assuming we pick up Aish - assuming we trade 2nd round for him
does not include SOSOS or Rice

B: Byrne, Giles, Buckley
HB: Docerty, Weitering, Viojo-Rainbow
C: Aish, Gibbs, Boekhorst
HF: Bell, Jaksch, Graham
F: Menzel, Casboult, Smith
Foll: Kruezer, Cripps, Murphy

I/C: Curnow, Whiley, Holman, Everitt

No love for Carlisle Smash?

just rumours at this stage. Would love Carlisle at Carlton though!
Would slot in perfectly at FB allowing Giles to be 3rd tall.
Just need a Gun Key Forward and some more midfield depth

Can't see Lennon happening. Unless Yarran swapped for a late 1st rounder (looking unlikely with his form) and that first is swapped for Aish, leaving our second (20ish) to swap for Lennon..

If only there was someway to get Weitering and Schache.

finish last and kruezer leaves via free agency and gets band 1 compo.

As has been said many a time - no way anyone offers Kreuzer enough to get us a Band 1 compensation pick. Especially when we're at the bottom of the ladder. The AFL have a bit of discretionary power over what compensation is awarded - if the contract offered was somewhere between Band 1 and 2, they'd be more likely to give Band 1 to someone near the top of the ladder (Pick 17 vs Pick 19) rather than a bottom side (Pick 2 vs Pick 19).

For them to give us pick 2, he'd need to be offered one of those ridiculous 6 year, $4mil type contracts. Nobody is going to pay that for Kreuze, as much as we love him.

Could see a team offering him 3 or 4 year on $600k. Not out of the realms of possibility that a team like Hawthorn comes around with Hale coming towards the end

Jury is still out for me regarding Henderson. Although he is a better CHB, with him at CHF it allows Casboult and Everitt off the leash, not to mention Kreuzer rotating forward. With him gone we are going to have to play Jones or Watson in that position, both aren't up to AFL standard.

On the flip side we could end up with a pick in the 8-10 range for him.

In regards to Kreuzer, I can't see us getting Band 1 for him, therefore, as he is heart and soul of the club, I wouldn't allow him to leave. Much more valuable to the club than a pick 19-20.

Not sure regarding Yarran, appears as if wants out, shame really, but I think we should cash in whilst he has currency. Hopefully we get a first rounder for him.

I think we will give up our second round pick for Aish, as much as we could get him in the PSD, I doubt we would be that cheeky. Might leave that for Carlisle.

I hope we play out the rest of the season with Fields and Holman and get another look at Boekhorst, Jaksch, Whiley and Bryne before the end of the season.

An off-season trades/draft period like that would go a long way to turning our list around. Carlisle and Weitering sure up our spine and Aish provides an aspect of our midfield we've been missing.

Absolute pipe dream but imagine a similar scenario unfolding:
- Kreuzer exercising his FA right and netting us band 1 compo (would hate to see him leave though).
- Pick 1 and 2 = Weitering and Scache
- Second round pick for Aish
- Yarran for Lennon or Crozier plus sweetners
- Carlisle in PSD
- Retain Hendo
- Pick up Rice and SOSOS

What a dream scenario!

For Fremantle!

Wouldn't be a straight swap.

I feel we're overrating Yarran if we're asking for a 10-15 pick. However he is worth much more than a fringe player no matter how young.

Yeah I think you're right. Will be interesting to see what happens. We really need him to finish the year strongly in any case.

Really don't think we are, and would rather keep Yarran than a 10-15 pick. Jacobs, Laidler, Betts, Garlett, Waite, Robinson gone for little to no return, Yarran for a late first rounder or worse adds to that list - not maximising return for quality players will be as much an issue as poor drafting.

Compare this to Collingwood's return for their players of late - we're going no where if we don't improve, Yarran for a late pick isn't an improvement.

Given that theres so much talk about aish i thought that i should join the convo.
I don't want him at Carlton cos he has attitude problems. The last two-three years we have picked guys with good characters and I think this would be going against that model. You can't have guys who have poor attitudes when you're in a list rebuild like we are. Honestly, the guy will demand good coin when he has hardly established himself as an AFL player yet. It's just not the right move IMO. I would rather we keep our current first and second round picks plus what we might get for Yarran or Hendo.
The only two scenarios where I'd be ok with having Aish would be if we got him for nothing in the PSD or if SOS really thought that the draft was that poor after pick 20 and then give up our second rounder for him. Thats it

Do you know James personally? How do you know he has attitude problems? If he is not enjoying his football in Brisbane then he has every right to move somewhere where he will. That does not signal an attitude problem.

Hendo surely going end of the year. Was watching him in the contests and just seemed to pretend to play. Runs around in circles without committing. What's going on with him?
