Only watching the Port game now. On a wine tour through McLaren Vale yesterday and still in bed now with a headache lol.

Interesting hearing Monfries at half time say they won't.change anything and will just work harder. Seems the coach's message is getting through to the players. It is the message of a coach bereft of ideas.

Taking notice of the frees and frees not paid. The umpiring was poor for both teams. Carlton got most of their frees from playing in front and tackling.

Because they always lift for us... They care more about beating us than any other game!
This 100 times! I don't think the Crows players realise how much these games mean to the fans (and to Port Power). It would be great to see us beat them in a few weeks, but I get the feeling that even if the Paps lose every game until then by 50 points, they'll lift for the Showdown and win.

Until Craig we did treat showdowns the same way as they do and until Craig we also lost every match after the showdown like they do.

Its clear Ken comes from the same style of coaching that Neil Craig comes from. Demanded a massive running game that needs a huge fitness bank to succeed. This was the brief given to Burgess and he obliged by working the players into the ground during the last 3 preseasons, ever increasing the workload (If Kane Cornes was felt smashed then it truly was a hard preseason). I truly think, like Neil Craig he has pushed the playing group to the point of exhaustion and they are no longer buying in and no longer listening. When you get to those situations somethings got to give otherwise you tread water year after year and get worse. Either Ken has to rebuild or Ken goes IMO.

Treating showdowns like a Grand final is more likely to hurt the season so I would rather the club just keep it low key and play and prepare like its any other game. Let little ******ed brother worry about us being their grand finals. Its the only Grand Final they can play in and feel confident for now they wont get smashed by 119 points.

We had a great run of Showdown wins under Craig at one point when he absolutely had the measure of Mark Williams.

Don't think we have ever treated it as a be all and end all tho, possibly stems from losing the first one and good things happening immediately after that.

Seeing Port lose to Carlton is a bit of a kick in the guts to us given our poor skills handed them a win against us.
During the bye when Walsh was saying we were one game behind where he wanted I'm sure he was talking about the port game when all assumed it was the freo game

If you haven't seen the second half yet the best is yet to come.

Take note of Monfries do absolutely nothing except pay for frees in the second half, which he then rightly does not get. That must be his idea of working harder.

For a club that prides itself on singing 'Never Tear Us Apart' before each home game to symbolise a family and One Club, you only have to go over to the #RenaultRejects page to see that #Kochiescampaigners are absolutely tearing themselves apart. I know we are far from perfect on this board and while we do eat our own I have never seen it to the same extent as the relentless smashing they are currently undertaking. No one is spared!
Even their fitness messiah is copping it

Seems like a dud game for the stand alone game today. Hopefully Melbourne can make it a contest. Can't see them getting close without Hogan but maybe Geelong will subconsciously relax, may be the Demons only chance.

If they get flogged today surely questions have to be asked of what Roos is doing there, I haven't seen much improvement yet despite the influx of players from other clubs.

They wont care. Only 11 games left and it will be Goodwin that's left to fix it.
