To be fair they didn't really have much else to be talking about last draft period. Surprised it took them that long.
Adelaide have more chance of gaining Aish then we do keeping him IMO, even if he does re-sign it's inevitable he's ends up at Adelaide before his career is over
The rumors have been circulating for over 3 months now and it seems like things have finally started to take motion.
As most people know by now James Aish has already privately stated his preference to join Adelaide as his family has pleaded for him to return home if given the chance. Wont go into it but his dad is very keen to get him home. Aish has told the Crows however he will not join them unless he is given a long term deal which gives him security in the game. He also will not join the Crows unless they outbid Brisbane.
Aish has held off all contract negotiations till the end of the season however his management last week asked all 3 clubs vying for his signature to make a initial offer. Brisbane and GWS didnt make one both choosing to wait till the end of the season. More or less both clubs want to know what they are dealing with when it comes to Adelaide's resilience in signing him.
Contract offered was 4 years, 1.6 mill base payment with extra incentives thrown in that would push Aish to the second highest paid player at the club (2 mill+ overall). Crows are pretty confident they will only have to make this one offer. GWS now pretty much have to offer him 5 years at 800k a season to compete and despite dropping Polkinghorne's wages, Brisbane are unlikely to be able to top 500k a season for his services
At this stage it appears Aish to the Crows is about 90% done. The only chance Brisbane have of retaining Aish is a change of heart really.
It'll be a real shame if he leaves. We are building something special and he'll miss out on it allThe rumors have been circulating for over 3 months now and it seems like things have finally started to take motion.

I pray to the football gods you are right. I love our current group and I hope we can keep them together for a flagAish doesn't come across as the type to want to go home to be the face of the crows or get all the fanfare. It will be interesting to see what he decides.
Tex Walker is a free agent next year so we won't need to tradeBefore reading the most recent posts I think this time next year we will have a lot of AFC people polluting our board, just like the black and white did this year. I rate Aish very highly and would hope the club retain him but jeez there's some good talent unsigned atm at Adelaide. Would take any of them but Walker would be top of my list vis a vis our needs. If he was keen then Aish would have to become part of talks. As has been mentioned contracts don't mean a helluva lot today as has been demonstrated over the last couple of weeks.

Yep, I'd have to seriously re-evaluate my priorities if Hawkins came on board.
Just look at this face:
Thanks for that.Tex Walker is a free agent next year so we won't need to trade
Well let's hope their "operation" thread has as much luck as most of ours
I think there is a strong chance that Cameron will be the highest paid player in the game at the end of next year. The amount of clubs offering him close to and over 1 million dollars a year will be ridiculous considering he will only be 22 years of age. In saying that, there are a large amount of clubs looking for a gun KPF so Taylor Walker and Tom Hawkins can also expect big pay days.
Considering we will be front loading the Beams and Christensen contracts, is there any chance we could sign 2 of the gun free agents next year?
Absolutely. He appears to love GWS though and it would be difficult to entice him out of that club.I'd defintely offer Cameron $1mil/yr. A Buddy type deal would almost be worth the risk after another big season.
