23 rounds of thur night footy next season. Briztoon was right we should have tanked last season, we are going to get multiple thur night games and it makes me sick.

I don't mind playing Thursday night footy. Win, get the four points and then death-ride whichever team presents as a threat to our top two position. What's not to like?
Our other Thursday game in the first 16 Rounds is Essendon in Round 12:
Someone on the Hawks board is saying that they've heard there won't be a Lions/Hawks game at the Gabba this year.

I've already penciled in and eagerly anticipating the cracking round 8 fixture that is Essendon v North.
So both Sydney teams and West Coast fortunately avoid the Thursday slot.

So a 5 day break between Gather Round and Easter Thursday is locked in. Collingwood will have a 6 day break with 2 sets of travel (how on earth will they cope?), so probably equivalent on that score.
I imagine this will be just the tip of the iceberg. We'll probably see a smorgasbord of 5 and 9 day breaks in our schedule when it comes out tomorrow. Hopefully we are able to handle these a little better next year then we seemed to this year, if it was indeed a factor.

So 5 matches in total on Thursday and Friday. Compared to the 7 we had to Round 15 this year.
It's only a difference of 2 but that might mean up to 4 less 5 or 9+ day breaks than this year.
One of those 9 day breaks come in between Geelong and Sydney.

Interesting to note the NRL fixture hasn't been published yet. In recent years they have put it out around this time, where the AFL has been later in the month or even in December.
