Without being biased, I think the formula they used in 2013 worked well - big Victorian club against a big non-Victorian club. The season opener should be shared around venues like Footy Park (as it was at that time), Adelaide Oval, Perth Stadium when it's finished, and the MCG. It should be between two well-supported top eight sides, not Carlton and Richmond no matter how crap one/both of them are.

Leaves Adelaide, Essendon, Freo, GC, Norf, Port as the other combinations
If Port are starting the season at home and West Coast are as well, it can't be Freo. It's going to be away and they've mentioned a few of the games in Melbourne, so I don't think it will be in Melbourne. My bet is Gold Coast in Gold Coast and considering it's the Easter long weekend would be a great trip for those wanting to go.
