2016 Draft Thread - The Rebuild Begins

He is a very very good player. Also redo the 2012 draft he would go allot sooner than pick 18. Ignoring the farther / sons who is a better player? Stringer, Macrae, a few arguable ones like Wines? Reckon he'd go before pick 7.

Those three are literally the only three for me. Looking at the draft again though it's a very poor draft with very few players outside the two F/S (Viney and Daniher), Grundy, the three you mentioned and a couple of mature agers in the rookie draft look like being above average players at this stage.

Comparing him to his draft class is probably not the best way to do It but he's the best ruck to come through the system in years therefore he may only rank one or two spots lower in another year.

We'd be setting an interesting trend there - collecting indigenous players who have done time (or been charged). Nothing against it at all - they've all committed to setting better examples for others to follow, which I love - it's just an interesting trend if we pick up Marlion.

To me it says the clubs view of Clarke is dammed if you do dammed if you don't.

Didn't he basically do a Wingard and say he wanted Vic and only Vic? Pretty sure at the time most of us were wrapped at the prospect of Simpson as well. Hindsight is a great thing but at the time we had Sandi, Griffin who at the time was doing pretty well and Clarke (who was doing well). Grundy wasn't a need at the time and Simpson could've been anything.

I suspect if we don't pick English (which I hope we don't) and he ends up being the GOAT ruckman then we'll have the same convo of whoever we pick at 7.

None of those listed are true rebounding defenders, bar maybe Hughes and he's shown little to say he'll make it at Afl level.
We need an andrew McGrath badly, logue is second best in that role after him

I am happy for Weller and Crozier to keep developing back there personally. Nothing against Logue btw either, and do see value in us rebuilding from the backline.

Understand the sentiment but read freo way to go by the late matt price and you may realise there were some mitigating circumstances.

Who's to say he can't ? One poor game means nothing. The recruiters know a lot more than us. Just saying

Unless we got in his ear and told him we'd give him $x if he refused to sign the offer from Geelong, so we can get him in the PSD.
Not an expert in this stuff by any means but I wouldn't have delisted both Barlow and Silvagni (and left Clarke unsigned) unless I had my eye on someone in the PSD, OR I wanted to run the list short to save my pennies.
