So does anyone know if De Boer, Silvagni etc are likely to be picked up by any other clubs? It seems a shame that only Barlow and Mayne will be playing at the elite level next year following the massive clean out.

meima can u make this your avatar?
I don't think your english is that good either . My english as my second language i think is way better than you speak or write in my first language. You make a fool of yourself to ask me to change avatar and said you can't understand my english.

I'm on the English bandwagon more than ever. When people say there are 'better options' available, what does 'better option' mean? Are there other options that could have more of an impact earlier in their careers than English? Sure. But English is regarded as the best ruckman in a while, especially this year, and fills a need on our list where Sandi and Griff will probably retire in the next year or two. Would we look back in two years with Zarke on our list as the only noted ruckman and only the likes of the normal second string ruckman available (Vardy, Witts) being available for trade, and think, wish we picked up English, our midfield is stacked. English could be our ruckman for 10+ years and i'd have that as a bigger need than a midfielder which are in abundance each draft.

I'm sorry that you have to endure casual racism like this mate.

Fair call meima, you go ok considering it's not your native language. I have trouble knowing if you're joking sometimes but I think you get your point across most of the time.

Na. A ruckman that provides a contest is plenty good enough. Especially with a quality midfield. Sure up the backline.

I think that if we pick him the recruiters have hope he has potential to eventually demonstrate versatility and even hold down a KP if need be. He has a pretty unique skillset for a guy his height and if reports of significant weight gain are true then the powers that be might be inclined to believe he could have an impact much sooner than the 4-5 years time frame many predict. If SPS is indeed gone by our pick I'm happy enough for us to jump on English although I totally understand the aversion you and others have. I think he's a classic high risk/high reward case.

Scrimshaw does not want to leave Victoria (he has the clubs know this) and is a significant injury risk. Do not want.

Simpkin/Logue/Brodie/English all fine by me. SPS sounds like a Carlton lock, although Cripps has just been rules out for 12 weeks so a another clearance mid-fielder who can play straight away might look attractive to the blues atm.

Brodie is an interesting one, 4-6 weeks ago he was number 1. Sounds like a very safe bet at a long term player, but that's never Freo style. We are a high risk and reward (or lack of) kinda of team.

Do not want Simpkin. Already have Weller, Langdon and Walters. These days if a player is under 6 foot he needs to be bloody good to be taken inside top ten.

Do not want Scrimshaw either. We are well covered down back.

If Logue and SPS are gone by our pick I want English or Brodie. Both players fill a need and would be rapt to play for Freo.

Lets hope Freo have re-intterviewed Scrimshaw and Simpkin in order to throw the competition off the scent.

English is unique in the draft. The best tall by far and with his skill set doesn't only have to be a ruckman. This board has been screaming out for years that we want a top line tall. If English is still there at our pick grab him. There are a lot of good mids to choose from with our later picks.
Very hard to split between logue and english. I prefer logue but English if come good will be a new talking point of ruckmen that can play like a midfielder. Freo will be the first team to do so.

It would give a club an extra player because there won't need to be someone running to get a handball off the ruckman after they take a mark.

Exactly what i am thinking , you read my mind well .

That is basically my uneducated views as well.

Can't deny that Twomey is spot on quite often but on this occasion I hope it is just Freo covering the bases. We have already spoken to SPS and English so having just spoken to the other two does not mean we are ONLY interested in them.

You never know, perhaps we have thrown the double bluff by not interviewing Brodie (openly) because he is actually the player of most interest. All these interviews do appear to be about putting doubt in other teams minds especially those with multiple low end picks.

Can't wait to watch the intrigue unfold.

Great reply....I hope that is not the reason you haven't posted here for awhile.
