I'd imagine whether Gibbs stays or leaves will have an impact on who we select at Pick 5. Gibbs goes I think we go for a genuine onballer in Brodie, if he stays Taranto as an 'hybrid mid' becomes more likely?

Would take Taranto over Brodie, no matter who was leaving

I think he still has a bit left in the tank. I know he only played a handful of games, but he averaged 24.5 disposals last year.

Losing Gibbs, leaves way to much of a load on Cripps.

A different thought of losing Gibbs and Tuohy in the same year.

They're probably our 2 longest kickers. Both are able to hit passes from 50m and both are a designated shot from outside 50 (hand offs etc.). I struggle to think of someone else who could do that in our team currently. Also struggle to think of someone who could even kick the ball 55m aside from Buckley. Docherty maybe, but not sure.

Will leave us very short on long range kickers, a potential weakness which would allow teams to compress there zones and make it even harder for us to hit targets within 45m, knowing that we won't be able to kick it on top or outside of the zone.

Id prefer we just played a Bulldogs style of game with short kicks and in close handballs.

Gee, we've freed up a lot of the 'old' TPP monies and going to slice off so much more next year.

Hard to believe we were allowed to go down the path we did. Hindsight I know, but wow.....some of the contracts we handed out....unbelievable.
If Everitt goes I think we'll have dumped close to $1.5m, and I'm not even sure where we'll spend it beyond Smedts and bumping contracts.

Maybe we've been angling for Barlow, or maybe our newer contracts are scale better as players come into the likely 22?

Either way I'm going to look over the uncontracted player list for the league and sort out who is yet to be signed.

There have been many discussions about this in this forum - sicne way before SOS arrived. Whats not to believe?
What I am happy to see is blokes liek Prestia and Jom told where to take thier pay expectations - elsewhere.

You know what it's like. You want to believe that the club is doing the right thing and things will be O.K......but you sort of know that they won't.

The year we gave Joseph, Davies and Ellard two year contracts just before the trade period was..............unbelievable.
I wanted to think that others knew way better than us.....but that proved not to be the case.

I really can't 'rationalise' a lot of stuff carlton used to do.
tbh - I believe that the Club is still in 'clean-up' mode - what do they call it 'reset'.

takes a long time to fix stuff that is broken - I take your point that Kernahan et al were too involved in too many decisions - thank F*** they have been pizzed orf.

What can we say? We allowed people that didn't really know what was going on make the moves and the people that were employed to make the moves were stifled and told what to do.

Even if SOS fails (and he won't) at least we're afforded to be able to blame the right person this time and not hang the people that were forced to make moves to satisfy their own judgment (read egos)

IN: Billie Smedts, Rhys Palmer, Caleb Marchbank, Jarrod Pickett, picks 48, 63, 66, 70

OUT: Zach Tuohy, picks 45, 58, 135, 2017 2nd RD pick.

What's the last pick, normally? Say 65? So 63 66 and 70 are equivalent really to 135.

So to me it's the 4 boys + 48 and 63 for 2e, 45 and 58. The rest is just fluff.

On that basis it's a very good trading period - 2 of these boys should be very good players for us at least.

Our best 22 has improved.

Simpson - Marchbank - Plowman
Docherty - Weitering- Bryne
Pickett - Cripps - Gibbs
Silvagni - Casboult - Palmer
Sumner - McKay - C.Curnow

Kreuzer - Murphy - E.Curnow

Cunningham - Wright - Brodie (pick5) - Armfield/Buckley

The backline is looking solid.
Midfield will improve, pickett and murphy add pace, palmer will provide more than daisy and he knows how to find the footy/handy up forward too. Cunningham to have more game time. Pick 5 should be a brodie or ainsworth type.
Forward line is young but exciting. Can't wait to see mckay, Silvagni and curnow all playing together.

Im optimistic for next year, we will be sneaky chance for finals.
